Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

My thinking is that cm will be called back for the week of the 24th. So their schedule should come out on the 17th
They only need a couple of days to train for whatever new procedures are in place. In all honestly they could learn it in one day.
Sure they can train in one or a few days but we don’t know how long it will take the park to get back into working order. We have never been in a situation like this.

I was looking at an article of the Shanghai resort testing their parade and fireworks and it did not look like any CM's were wearing masks. (Not here to change anyone's mind) I was also wondering if Disney might take the approach of professional sports leagues and the NCAA which just came out with resocialization guidelines for returning to play for schools. One of which is making sure there are enough tests for students. Is that something Disney might be looking into for their CM's before starting up again, making sure that no matter whether they are full-time or part-time, tests are easily available. Maybe also 'isolation' housing available for CM's who may test positive or need to quarentine from the college program?

On the subject of character meals...

But, he talked about how it was kind of uncomfortable, because all these little kids wanted to go up to the characters. And sometimes, the parents just let them and didn't try to control them. And sometimes the parents did intervene, but there were many crying and disappointed children.

I guess I am just imagining that on a much larger scale. And yes, obviously people would be like you and have that discussion with their kids/grandkids in order to prepare them. But, many won't. Many may not even be prepared for it. And, I love the US, but I have to imagine our folks won't be as polite as those in Hong Kong. So, I'm imagining people screaming at the servers/CMs about "I paid a lot of money..." And then I imagine character wranglers having to control a situation in which parents are not following the rules and they are being forced to intercept other people's kids.

This x100 at WDW. Never mind the parents just letting their kids go on their own, I'm thinking some parents would be encouraging it while they take pictures.

It still takes time to put measures in place. Putting tape in all queues for social distancing, putting up plexiglass as well as testing the attractions. Just cause Disney is taking reservations June 1st doesn't mean they are opening then.
Front of the line cm will not be the ones installing plexiglass. Tape can be installed fast, they do it everyday. Im not saying it's definitely opening June 1st, just my thought

That's why I'm giving them a week that they're called back before receiving guests.

There was something in a recent article about WDW during the closure. They have a staff of approx 200 mostly security and facilities on site during the closure.

I had posted in another thread, a maintenance person power washing Toy Story land a few days ago. On an ordinary day - no big deal.. these days - smiled & shared.

I just have a feeling they will need longer than that. I don’t see them bringing all cast back at once rather doing it more gradually. Maintenance crews first, maybe management positions that weren’t already working, etc. No one is right or wrong here because nobody really knows. It’s speculative until Disney does whatever they do.

I agree. Maintenance will probably be called first, on stage cm will probably just be a week

What about entry procedures? I’m assuming no more finger scanning. Any idea what they are planning facial recognition or maybe taking your photo like Disneyland?

It's the scale of training I'm thinking about.

How many CMs are likely to be called back (excluding international and DCP obviously) and how quickly could disney feasible give each of those a day or twos worth of training in total?

They are on the Disney app though. Weird that they got taken off open table.
If they are reducing capacity they can only have ADR's for property guests on the DP special they offered for canceled rooms, plus the park guests..whoever and and however many that will be ...

Sorry - I can't imagine WDW just taping queues. The tape they normally use wouldn't hold up to a full day of wear and tear. Folks can just reach down and remove it. And they aren't going to want to fix it all the time, or redo it day after day.

They could use a thicker tape, but then folks would be tripping over it. I think they are going to have to do something more "semi" permanent.

I am thinking more along the lines of the circles on the floor at Target (if anyone has seen them). Or how the numbers are for the FoP pre-show. "Your party stands here" type of thing.

That actually might work better, like a plastic circle

If all of us could figure out exactly the right way to do this, we’d be making the big bucks at WDW. I have no clue what they’ll do, but I’m positive they’ve been working on it since the day they closed. I can’t imagine it would take more than a couple of weeks to be operational, regardless of the specifics of what their plan is. They may not be doing much of the details we’ve been talking about. Increased cleaning, hand sanitizing stations, signage to remind people to distance...those are not hard to do or take much time. How long it takes to get the rides up- have no clue, but it can’t be more than a few days. There’s plenty of time for a June 1 opening. But just say something! The suspense is killing me!
