Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Wipe down places at “ random “ ?

Should be everytime

Those guidelines don’t make me feel safe there.

50 percent capacity? To start? That’s nuts

No face masks for the actual people in the park? That’s the one thing that can actually make a difference at the park. If employees have to wear them, all guests should have to wear them. All the employees will wear their makes ( probably not even n95, but regular ones, and we put them at risk wearing none) Not saying forever but for a month or 2 at least to test the system. I am not surprised though. They didn't keep ANYONE from social distancing that last week they were open. Do you remember those photos? It was a joke of how they handled it.

You can wash your hands 10000 times but if someone next to you is asymptotic and somehow gets near you, that won’t help.

I assume they will add things before opening, and I also assume this is more geared towards staff right now and not guest relations. I truly hope so..

wonder if just hard to sanitize the coffee machined in between guest stays? .... just feel like they want to minimize anything that would be touched by multiple guests
I think I read they were thinking of removing plates and cups and all that sort of thing so maybe the coffee makers are just kind of a "we might as well" as there won't be any cups in the room anyhow. I mean it might not be so much of them being a sanitary hazard, (though they probably are?) but more of a since there won't be any cups ... though ... they certainly could place paper cups in the rooms, I think they did before the virus if I remember right?

Because we are still extremely early on with regards to this virus. New information is coming out all the time. Just in the last two days -

1. There's evidence now of new Covid issues, or a possible mutation causing severe illness in children.

2. There's evidence of Covid causing circulatory inflammation issues in children and young adults.

Cases are slowing because of social distancing - as soon as that's relaxed, cases will pick up. If we relax too quickly, we could end up in real trouble. Again, we know practically nothing about this virus. And this is a dangerous way to learn.
Exactly.

Although its impossible to say due to lack of testing early on, its likely it is currently far more widespread than it was before lockdown.

If we now go back to basically normal with a few token tweaks with it being more widespread now than before lockdown then wave 2 is coming. Plus there are endless extra questions that raises like can you catch it twice, and if you do catch it a 2nd time is it worse (fatal even for young healthy is rumoured).

I feel that a lot of people are gonna have to weigh the risks of going. There is NEVER a guarantee of safety anywhere. If people dont feel safe, stay home.

Booked a night at the Contemporary resort using the CM discount. My thought process is that they might not allow people visiting the resort if they are not actually staying there (just a thought) so I would like to see how the resort is actually operating and be able to live stream it all for everyone that can't come until later. Also the walkability to MK is a big plus.
If anyone wants to follow along I will live stream on my personal fb page, my name is Julie Rodriguez and my pic is myself with Jedi Mickey and R2MK, I use my fb only for fun Disney and Universal things

I'm wondering now if WDW would want anyone doing any "live steams" right when they open up? Just wondering if they want it seen how well (or not well) they are handling various situations before there has been some time for CMs and folks to get use to them. Not sure how'd they stop them other than specifically stating that it wouldn't be allowed for a time.

What's your date? We might see you there! If this is what they basically follow, we're good to go. A few disappointments, but not unexpected and nothing we can't accept.

I have, lots of availability, but I wonder if their will be a rush to rebook once they announce a date.

Over the weekend I noticed that Southwest was offered cheap flights to Orlando - $79 there and $89 back, in October. Went ahead and booked the flight and got a room at ASMovies. Worst case scenario, Disney's still closed and the trip doesn't happen, but in that case I can get the hotel deposit back and just use the flight money on another flight next year. My thinking is that once people know exactly what Disney is going to do a lot of things will sell out, especially if only people staying at Disney resorts get to go into the parks. We'll see!

I watched the livestream of the last night at Magic Kingdom and couldn't believe it - the place was PACKED. I was thinking "What the heck? They're closing WDW because of a HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS VIRUS, PEOPLE!" That place should have been EMPTY, instead people jammed into the place like there was nothing going on at all. I wonder how many COVID cases came out of that alone? Far too many!

If any cases came out of Disney I promise it would have been all over the news and you know that

There have been no reports of illness that could be directly linked to visiting WDW and the one death that does get reported is a big "if" as to whether he was sick at WDW- the timeline suggests he definitely did not catch it there.

We were watching those last few days very closely. What we know now is not how it was back then. We were scheduled to be there the day after it closed, supposed to leave 2 days after closure was announced. Up until the news of Tom Hanks and the basketball player being positive, Disney closing was not being seriously discussed. Even a few days before that, Disney possibly closing wasn't even on the radar for us. I can show you a text between me and my daughter, a couple of hours before DLR shut down where I texted her asking did she think WDW would close and I got a laugh back from her saying I was worrying about nothing. Things moved very rapidly. Honestly, we considered going ahead and leaving a day early, just to get that last day in. Sounds crazy now, but at that time, it was just different. I don't judge those who were there.

It's also possible that they don't want someone to sanitize the coffee machine and have someone end up with sanitizer in their coffee. I think most of the things you would find in a typical hotel room (coffee machine, glasses....etc) are pretty dirty to start out with.

June 1st, figured that's the earliest I can book, obviously I'll move it to the first day of park opening if that's not it
Too early for us, but I'll definitely be watching! Thanks for keeping everyone informed. I love your live streams.

actually not that many. Don't you think if there was an outbreak from that weekend from Disney the media wouldn't have been all over that. We heard of that one gentleman that died and that was it. I'm sure more people were infected and possibly died but not to the level of an outbreak. TBH I was expecting it, I was there that whole week with all those people, when they closed I thought that we would hear about it, but it never happened. Maybe the scientists are right and outdoor, in high temps and humidity is better than indoors, who knew? :)

WDW already has phased closure procedures in place. I would suspect that those will be how capacity is managed, but with 50% of the capacity as the top limit. These are all speculative, but Touring Plans has a page dedicated (as I'm sure others) to phased closure procedures that is thought Disney uses: https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/capacity-closures

It could be that when they open, they will already be operating at one of those phased closure steps.

I agree they could change; but I also agree that "the task force basically is Disney and Universal". I don't think they would have put this out there unless this is what they are planning. Unless they are "floating" these guidelines out there to see how people react.
Probably part of the show. That’s the basics & now wdw & Universal can look like they’re going above & beyond with anything else they implement although they made up the task force who set the minimal guidelines in the first place.
