Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

We've been to Disney twice, and I can't remember for the life of me how it worked in the past, so I have a dumb question:

I already have reservations at Boardwalk for mid-July. I've been making ADRs for a while now. My FP window is opening in mid-May. I have NOT purchased my tickets because of all of this mess... I'm waiting to see what Disney plans to do (because we don't want to pay full price for a modified experience).

Will I be able to (hypothetically) book my FPs with just my reservations at Boardwalk, or do I need to purchase my tickets and link the ticket numbers up to my account to do the FPs.
The last two times we went, I had done both reservations and tickets by this time, so I don't know which one is key to opening the FPs for us.
Thanks!

You need to have tickets of some sort linked in MDE to book fastpasses at 60 days.

No you need tickets to books FPs. Wouldn’t make much sense for them to allow FPs if you didn’t have tickets.

I like that trip - a triple split! I had a YC CL trip for a week @ end of June but switched to 1br BCV b/c I was worried about modified (aka not open) restaurant openings. Rumors are certainly only rumors, but I wanted to hedge my bets a bit.

I am waiting it out to see how things shake out and I might switch to OKW b/c I've never been out there and seemingly 95% of people on the boards loves them. I've always avoided b/c of the extra time to get to parks when there's a mad dash at WDW, but if there isn't a need for a mad dash, I'm all for staying out of the action a bit.

Thanks. I tacked on the YC the day our March trip was cancelled just to make myself and my grandson feel a little better. I thought at the time there was no way I'd have to worry about them not being open by then. So much for that!

You need to have your tickets linked.

Apologies if this has been discussed or if its not the right place for it. Based on the most recent rumored restrictions in Post 1, which of these would be deal breakers for those of you who have a trip planned before the end of the year, or those who are considering one?

  • Magic Kingdom reopens with limited capacity, no theaters, no parades, no castle shows, no fireworks and sanitized ride vehicles after every guest exit.
  • Magic Kingdom resorts reopen with strict distancing guidelines in place.
  • Monorails would not operate.
  • Ferries and boat transportation would operate with distancing in place.
  • Health checks would be introduced at every security checkpoint. This would include temperature checks and Q&A (including locations you have traveled to in the past 14 days).
  • Guests will have to sign additional legal forms clearing Disney of liability for potential exposure to COVID-19.
  • EPCOT will remain closed if other parks are able to reopen prior to September.
  • Hollywood Studios reopens with limited capacity, no indoor theaters, no parades, no fireworks, and sanitized ride vehicles after every guest exit.
  • Animal Kingdom reopens with limited capacity, no indoor theaters, no parades, no Rivers of Light, and sanitized ride vehicles after every guest exit. Maharajah Jungle Trek would remain closed, and no close encounters with any animals at any place in the park will be permitted. Details about Animal Kingdom are still being developed.
  • Transportation guidelines are still being developed.
  • Dining guidelines are still being developed.
  • No character meet and greets.
  • No character dining.
  • Water parks will not reopen while Secure Circuit is in place.
  • DVC details are still being developed.
  • Sanitation stations will be available throughout the parks, as well as directions on the ground to keep guests moving in proper directions for limited pedestrian crossing.
  • It is likely, though not officially determined, that masks will be a requirement for adults.
  • Magic Bands mandatory for all guests, fingerprints temporarily on hold.
  • Non-MK resorts are unlikely to reopen until Phase 2 begins (Secure Circuit is for Phase 1).
  • Disney is currently evaluating every single ride and queue to determine how and if it can operate with strict distancing guidelines. This includes determining how to move people through the queue in a safe manner even if virtual queue is in place for that particular ride. For example, even just moving through the queue of Pirates exposes guests to whatever guests passed through the queue 20 seconds prior.
  • Chapek ultimately makes the call on when to reopen and how, once DeSantis gives the green light... so while the protocols for Secure Circuit have been developed, there may be changes from the top.
  • What's on and what's off for future construction is now largely on how much and when Disney receives US government money, as well as the realities of the economy on the other side of this situation. Expect Disney to NOT announce cancellations of projects in 2020, but also for some projects to simply sit with no announcement. Disney is likely to be very bearish in 2020 until we get Q4 economic data.

We have been cautiously optimistic about our late October/early November trip, but the bullet that says "EPCOT will remain closed if other parks are able to reopen prior to September" is giving me pause. That's about the only deal breaker for us. Unless, perhaps, a good promotion or discount is rolled out. But I can't imagine paying what we are currently booked at and only being able to go to 3 of the 4 parks. And I'd also be concerned that Phase 2, where our resort would fall, wouldn't be rolled out by then either.

So health concerns aside (I'm sure we all have that to some degree), which of these rumored measures would tip you towards cancellation?

I was prompted to choose magic bands for my June trip (6th thru 20th) about 10 days ago. Only plain bands, to be picked up at check-in. I fully expect that at least some of those days will be canceled, yet they prompted me, I didn't seek it out. Frankly, I didn't take that to mean anything, LOL!

Here in Florida all restaurants have closed, only pick up or delivery. But yes, i agree with @vinotinto that Disney will open after all the executive orders have lifted
That's the way GA has been too (well, we could get take-out or delivery), we don't eat out much unless we're on vacation so it really hasn't affected us a whole lot. It will be interesting to see what happens once all the executive orders are lifted.

exactly, currently you have to sign a waiver to do The Void at Disney Springs, NBA Experience at Disney Springs, when you rent any of the boats at the various marinas at WDW, when you rent a bike, a canoe. They could simply put a big warning sign at the entrance of the parks and cover themselves that way, the same as the warning signs for individual attractions, if someone with those conditions decides to ride and something happens, Disney is not liable

Right but is still not 100% protection about anything.

As an example, I do obstacle course races. We have to sign what is referred to as a "death waiver" that basically holds them nit accountble for basically anything. So if I do climb up a cargo net and fall and break my leg that's on me. However, if they didn't get the cargo net up properly and it comes loose and that is why I break my leg then that is still on them even with the death waiver because they would be consdered negliment because they didn't get the cargo net up properly.

My only problem with this article, even after hearing all the rumors and shrugging some of them off, is the "Disney is prepped to remain closed for the rest of the year" bit (not a direct quote, sorry). I'm just thinking, why would they still be allowing guests to make reservations if they have that in the plans? I just feel like if they were seriously thinking that they would do a "guests who already have reservations in place can keep their reservations, but no new reservations will be permitted until more information is given in regards to the time frame of opening the parks". Of course that's been my problem with them accepting June 1 reservations and doing the free dining promo for people already displaced due to the closure. I do know it's a rumor, but it always makes me scratch my head when people say it like Disney has stated it's fact when they haven't, and when they are operating as if they are definitely opening this summer even if it's a more scaled down experience.

Would have to buy our park passes may 16 for in order to book FPS
what is current ticket ( no package) refund/exchange policy ?
I believe we would have to use by Dec 31 2020? Is that correct ?

When the article says "prepped to remain closed for the rest of the year", it does not mean that is their expectation. We don't know when they're planning to re-open, but I'd bet it's sooner than the end of the year. Disney is hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

I believe NYC mass transit transports more passengers per year then any other US City. NYC mass transit continues to operate, with questionable success of social distancing. It is unknown to what extent this is responsible for spread in NYC. Could this have an impact on Disney's decision making with respect to Disney transportation?
As of April 9th, 33 NYC mass transit authority bus and subway drivers had died of COVID19.

Whilst it seems very unlikely, we may still get to the point where new cases is consistently close to zero by then and so if they are allowed to open, why wouldn't they at least try? Which wouldn't be economically feasible if they had no bookings.

The only one of those that would prompt me to cancel would be if masks are required for adults. I wear a mask in the grocery store for 30 minutes and my face itches terribly, I sweat, I feel claustrophobic- like I can't breathe, and I start to get a headache. I won't enjoy myself at all if I have to wear a mask.

If only the MK resorts are open, then they will probably cancel me- unless they give me a free upgrade- which would understandably upset those who paid for the MK resorts.
