Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Yeah when I read how long that stuff stays on the outside of a mask (a week) I got very concerned about wearing one. You 💯 Can. Not. Fiddle with it. (Obviously YOU know that 😂 I say this as a reminder for myself in case I end up wearing one!)

And thinking about that- I’m waaay leaning towards no masks required on Disney opening. What are people doing with masks while they eat? Where are they putting them in their hotel rooms? They certainly aren’t throwing them in a washing machine. What happens when the mask gets wet in the FL rain?... It has the potential to become an object carrying disease and spreading it every single place it touches. And kids aren’t going to touch them? LOL. Can you imagine the masks that could be littered across the parks having blown away in wind or been thrown off by a kid... EWWWWW!!
I have seen discarded gloves in the parking lot at the grocery stores I have gone to. I imagine people will do the same with masks at WDW parks.
Further proof that WDW won't re-open for at least 6 years. This is the "new normal." :duck:

For awhile I was thinking that Disney might try to provide masks for guests who want them, similar to all the bug spray they provided a couple years ago when that mosquito born virus was around. But I was thinking that could be hard given the recent demand issues, I mean it could take months and months to build a desired supply for guests and CM. But some of the posters here bring up a good point, who in the world would care to wear a mask all day in the Florida summer heat, much less at Magical Disney? Agreeing with recent grocery store shopping being a bit off putting.

As far as no parades, meet and greets or FWs, I'd still go. No young kids so haven't done meet and greets for years, the parades are cute but way too crowded for me so I haven't watched one, again, in years. I just don't find sitting on a curb for a hour waiting on a parade so I can see the thing worth it. I used to love the FWs shows when they were just FWs but now that most of them are projection based I don't bother. I'm height challenged and the few times I've tried to get there early for a good spot, some tall man or father with a child on their shoulder gets in front of me and I can't see anything but the high FWs. If they did FPs only for the FWs I would probably go to those if they limited the amount of people who could attend. I even tried the dessert party once at MK and had a perfect table close to the rail. Back then they allowed people to stand up so people came and stood at the rail right in front of me, thus blocking my view. We go just to be there now, we ride rides but it's not really our focus, we just enjoy walking around and enjoying the details and eating the food. We are definitely in the minority though.

Trust me when I tell you they won't.
Disney has great health services, I won't lie, but it's nothing compulsory.
If it is something that occurred at work you can get workers comp and I supposed you'd be monitored that way, but you're also put on restrictions whenever you do that. You're removed from your workplace and often given other tasks or things to do that fit whatever new restrictions you may have, or you may not work at all.

Many people don't report their work injuries just to avoid things like this.
And because Disney operates on a point system if you call out sick x amount of times within a certain time frame you can be fired, which is another reason why people go to work sick anyways. Getting a day off at Disney for an illness or family emergency is almost impossible so the idea that they'd "monitor" our health is almost laughable tbh.

Thank you for a realistic point of view. It really is refreshing even if it can seem dismal lol. I'm a realist so I appreciate the good the bad and the ugly. I'm not a fan of the thought process that the Disney company have reached sainthood. They are very much "big business" and many just can't swallow that reality.

How do you eat and drink. Wearing a mask. So if you take it off to eat at a restaurant. To eat. What good was. It to wait it all day ?? I am sure everyone is ready to wear there mask all day , but with the heat down there. I just wonder how long that’s going to last .

If you play with your mask and transfers thing to your hands.

I can imagine a bunch of people in August removing their masks once they get into the parks, then only putting them back on when a CM asks them to.

This is exactly what I've been thinking. If Disney is counting on having everyone wear a mask all day in the park, just don't even bother reopening it.

As someone who wears a mask indoors all day these days, it's not particularly fun or easy. It's always moving as you talk and you find yourself fiddling with it. Can you imagine what it would be like for 10 hours out in the heat walking around Disney in July? First of all, you've got to drink a lot in that weather, so you'll be constantly taking it on and off. Every time you do, there's the real risk you might set it down or touch it in a way to make yourself even more exposed to germs when you put it back on. And don't even get started thinking about trying to make young kids wear it for hours. I can barely even get mine to keep their shoes on. You think they're just not going to take it off every chance they get when walking around or riding in a stroller. And what if you don't have an extra? Mine broke the other day, luckily I was able to go get another one.

The only thing I can possibly see would be something along the lines of CMs making you put one on when entering a queue or physically getting on a ride. Beyond that, I don't see how they could enforce it.

On masks...

Yeah, this is the issue. Every scenario that includes any sort of temperature screening and/or mask wearing would likely require additional CMs on duty, and as it is now stands they'd be practically running with a skeleton crew (pardon the PotC reference) if their plan was to open before July without including any sort of safety measures.

This is a complete rumor (I have only heard this from personal experiences on various boards/groups) - but I have heard people are having much more difficulty with booking FP+ for June (as in, availability is much lower and they are unable to get FP+ like they normally would).

Has anyone seen any articles linked to this or heard something more concrete than some random person on the internet? Just curious. I googled and couldn't find anyway.

I guess this would make sense anyway since it is pretty obvious they won't completely reopen like normal.

There are a couple of threads about this on the T&S board, but I wasn't able to book anything new at 7am on FP day for a trip starting June 2 -- none of the new stuff at HS at 60+4, no Fop at 60+5, no mine train at 60+2. I assume they are limiting, or the crowds are going to be very, very big.

I'd be ok with less capacity and no fast passes. I miss those days.

If masks are required, I am actually excited to see what Disney will have available, design wise.
I know, this would be kind of neat and fun but for several reasons I just don't see this happening. First, as mentioned in previous posts, wearing a mask in the Florida heat would be brutal and with all the taking it on and off that would be required would render it more or less pointless. I suppose disposable ones might otherwise be an option such as before entering a que, but aren't hospitals and what not still desperately trying to get masks? I'm not sure Disney would be able to acquire several million masks (or whatever would be deemed an adequate supply) in a few weeks or months. I mean look at the initial problem with the customizable magic bands.
