Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

If you read what Universal out out physical distancing will be a part of the parks as well as virtual queues. I can see mobile ordering and paying only with card the new normal. What's wrong with implementing those measures? I ask those of you that keep ruling out everything that is rumored to be implemented what do you think will be implemented?

The only thing wrong with them is that ride capacity will be so low, the experience will be miserable. It would be nice to get some real info soon.

Part of me thinks that's why it will be limited capacity. Let me ask you then what should Disney implement to keep physical distancing in the parks?

Honestly, I think it would be kind of nice even if waits in queues were a bit longer to accommodate social distancing measures not to feel like a sardine when walking around the parks.

I don't think most people have a problem with that really, at least for now. Those kind of things are expected initially. It's the idea around enforcing masks that is causing some controversy.

We will have to see how they handle ride capacity. If they have to stagger it out to a point where wait time for Thunder Mountain Railroad is two hours and the social distancing line reaches to the Hall of Presidents... this may not be feasible.

I'm not the person to ask. I'm not worried about it, any more than the flu. I don't get up in people's space in lines as it is. I don't touch handrails. I carry hand sanitizer already. I wash my hands. If I feel like crap, I don't go places if I can avoid it. I would say, open up and post signs everywhere about exercising common sense. (good luck) #herdimmunity :-)

If people aren't standing in the space for queues, where will they be? It's kinda like closing the big grassy fields at parks, but leaving the walking trails open.

I guess I'm imagining that they'll initially reduce capacity to the point where there won't be a ton of people filling up walkways like there normally is.

I think someone here did the math, to break even parks need X number of guests. If the numbers are too low, it's cheaper for them to just keep the parks closed. Double the wait times for every ride. Are they halving the crowds? So many questions.

We did that here with our parks in mid-March. Only a few parks open, and only the walking trails. And they were surprised when the walking trails were packed. Didn't think through that one.

That is one reason why I am surprised they are considering opening only 1-2 of the parks at first. Open them all, and there is a much better chance the guests can social distance. Finding enough staff to work could be an issue, and I am sure that it would be more expensive to have them all open, but from a social distancing standpoint, one would think they would want as much standing and walking space as possible.

That’s what the law says. That’s the reasoning behind it. And it should keep people from suing. But it won’t.

Disney’s Disability Access Service Card still allowed people to do things- and Disney had a good reason for moving to that system: rampant fraud on the part of gue

Funny enough, probably the easiest park to semi-open 80% of its theme park is Seaworld. Almost every stadium is outdoors, and the kid area rides are small fill rides anyway (so 6 people or 12, they take forever anyway). And it has enormous walking footpaths.

They have no real hotels, no real park transport, and tons of fixed overhead in animal care they need to offset.

And they'll be in most desperate need of the money.

I'd actually see when and how Seaworld opens to get a feel for Disney b/c they are opening or going bankrupt by mid-summer at the latest...

Not one of the people ruling things out, but I can see the big picture of what Disney is trying to undertake and understand it’s staggering. Every ‘solution’ seems to bring up even more questions. Trying to figure out how people will go to a store during a pandemic (low capacity, masks, sanitizer) is one thing. Making sure people can have fun and get their money’s worth during a pandemic is a whole other beast. I trust WDW to toe that line between business smarts and guest safety. I won’t pretend to know much else about how to run the most popular theme park/resort in the world during a global crisis.

I posted about this in the wrong thread originally but with wdw looking to protect CMs can they employ antibody testing? Testing of that nature has been unreliable to this point but Abbott and University of Washington have developed a reliable test that started use this past Tuesday by doctor’s orders.

I think a lot of people are having a hard time dealing with it being a long time til normal returns.

Well if they hold crowd levels down, that's one thing that can take as long as they want IMO.

Except that doesn't matter any more. The whole point of Covid is you can feel perfectly fine, still have it, be contagious, go places, and end up directly or indirectly infecting and killing people.

That really doesn't say anything about Disney. It's just sharing what Universal said.

Update from IOA. First day without nurses but I was talking to national guard and as of now their "mission" is through the end of May and then air force will take over. Talked to the guy in charge of the whole operation here from the department of health and he said we will all find out by watching the governors press conferences, basically he doesn't know when they will lift the mandatory quarantine from hot spots.
I will keep you posted
Just thought you might be interested in the spiel we give to passangers before they get off the plane

I would think Disney will be lock step with Universal. They do not want to let Universal open and take revenue from them while they are closed
