Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Just saw on Facebook someone had posted about the WDW Magic insider rumours on the disboards Facebook page a few days ago and this was the response:

“Really? And where did you hear this rumor? I bet it's super reliable and you didn't make up any of that. Idiots spreading bs.”

Man alive, can't some of you keep it about the topic and stop armchair psychoanalyzing others?

Disney IS one of my coping mechanisms for reasons that are no one else's business.

And one of the wisest pieces of advice I ever received was not to judge other peoples' coping mechanisms.

The superiority vibes here are just ridiculous. And rooted in your own need to feel better about yourselves rather than any supposed caring for your fellow humans who are quite frankly dealing with having their lives turned upside down.

Sheesh.

No hypocrisy in this post at all 🙄🤣

I saw on a thread that moving forward for the next while at least, that it's going to be less about making profit and more about minimizing their losses. I think they said right now they're losing $30M a day. So, if they could even just break even, that would be huge. But even losing $5M a day is better than $30M.
Thank you for pointing this out.

I have to wonder if disney would even profit on running the parks with limited attendance, extra cleaning staff, no indoor dining, no salon experiences or $300 princess tea parties. No fireworks crowds to sell light up ears and glowing bubble wands to. No dessert parties. No character meets mean fewer people will buy memory maker.

I don't know their breakdown, but I have a feeling park tickets barely cover operating costs, and the profit is made on all the over priced extras.

From a business standpoint of WDW I would first focused on first not hemorrhaging money asap rather than making a profit.

If they can slow the money loss with only the DVC resorts open and 2 parks a day open to break even while keeping people as safe as realistically possible then its worth it.

I wonder (in all seriousness), if they could make masks from some sort of cooling material (similar to the cooling towels).
Probably not effectively. The only effective mask is N95 and it is 3 layers of polypropylene and a valve to let out excess moisture. All the others fail from the standpoint of fit and material mesh density. Air finds the path of least resistance so that usually means about 2% effectiveness from a mask that doesnt properly seal to the face. It just goes around. I saw test results where participants were asked to cough through masks and viral load was almost the same through a simple paper or cloth mask as without at 9 inches. Also some masks actually propagated viral load on the exterior worse than interior. I'm afraid the whole mask thing may just be a "warm and fuzzy" people are looking for. Unless I have a proper N95 fitted I wouldnt depend on it to do much.

And of course the N95 I talked about protects user only. no valve N95 wpuld be the norm. and they are HOT

ANY mask is still better than NO mask....and that goes for everyone sick and not sick. A lesser quality face covering will still prevent larger droplets from entering your mouth/nose while your own potential CoViD cough would reduce the number of virus droplets that are put in the air.

They've shown even surgical masks to be effective in reducing the spread.

Judging by a lot of the responses in their thread, most keep thinking Disney will be the same come June 1st as they were when they closed. Masks may not be required but I honestly think the no parades, no fireworks, no meet and greets, no character dining will happen.

Out of those I would only be sad about the fireworks. And even then, since Illuminations is already gone, I wouldn't be all that upset. We don't do parades, meet and greets, or character meals.

We love all the fireworks and all the shows (projection shows, FotLK, Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, Citizens of Hollywood, Frozen Sing Along, etc.). This is some of what we look forward the most for each trip. We'll definitely have to weigh what will be open with what will not be.

If they eliminated the projection part of the fireworks shows wouldn't people be able to spread out enough to satisfy social distancing requirements? I get the parades, but the fireworks, not so much.
Yeah, I would take some fireworks rather than no fireworks, but the newest fireworks shows are very focused on the projections, so something will be lost. This is true for HEA and the SW show at DHS.

You would still get crowds in the main viewing areas. If capacity is limited means the money coming in is lower then normal. Getting rid of fireworks lowers costs.

That would definitely work for mk. Dhs i don't consider much of a fireworks show anyways. And Epcot forever doesn't really need you to be by the railing
