Rumor : $450 Dining Package to see Frozen

$450? If that price is accurate sadly someone will think its a good deal.

Wow!!! Hey, more power to the mouse house if they can make a success of it at that price. But my bet is this one doesn't get too many takers.

Well, I thought $250 for the Jungle Cruise continental breakfast was a lot, but the thing seemed to sell out almost instantly. Given the backstage access, I actually don't find this to be too outrageous. For comparison, when Cirque du Soleil came to town earlier this year I booked my wife and I a package that included a backstage tour for $500pp. And that didn't include a five-course meal at an upscale restaurant! So I do see them selling a handful of these packages every day.

I remember 15 years ago doing a similar meal, show and meet and greet for Blast!. It was $150 then if I remmeber correctly. While I won't do it at that price, I know people who will. I do think the price is fair. Greed? No, you can see the show without the package, you can have dinner for less at the same restaurant. You are paying for the back stage experience.

The Jungle Cruise breakfast was worth it to anyone who did it.

I'm tired of all the upsell stuff recently. But this one doesn't bother me. It's high enough in price and so exclusive that they won't be blocking off big sections of the theater keeping me from sitting there. I have no expectation of going backstage with my regular park ticket, so it's taking nothing away from the general public.

Yeah, this doesn't really bother me because it doesn't really take much away from the regular guests. I could be wrong but I don't think these packages will be all that popular.

I've been in enough musicals to know that $450 for a backstage experience will weed out the hordes of people who would come at a lower price. It's mayhem backstage during shows and having to deal with public too would be hard on a lot of actors, never mind those who have to be 'on' even when they're 'off' stage.

When I first saw this I felt really irritated since it felt like it sounded like just one of many money grabs that are starting to irritate me about the business model that is dominating disneys company culture lately. After hearing about them firing their IT staff and making them train their cheaper foreign replacements I have been feeling particularly irritated with how un-Disney like, how very unmagical, their business practices are becoming.

Then I stepped back and thought about how much money I have spent for good seats at musicals (175 each for Wicked in San Francisco a couple months ago and 150 each for Phantom in September to name a few and they were not primo seats at all). Then I thought about the high priced ticket packages that are offered for some of my favorite shows that, as cool as they sound are outside of my price range. This price and package are on par with other things I have seen. So, my rancor has stilled. If this show is on par with other Disney stage shows I have seen like Lion King that are Broadway quality then this package isn't a horrendous money grab, just a high end package that is not unlike many offered by American Express.

When figuring out the amount of money spent to see a theater performance, remember that you have already paid north of $100 to get into the park. I'm just getting tired of all the "experiences" that set people apart in the parks.

Admittedly that sounded so awesome, (especially after reading your report on it)! But I love the Jungle Cruise and have only a passing interest in Frozen. Guess we each pay up for the things we love, when we can. (I hope they bring that breakfast thing back every once in a while, I want to hit it up someday when I have the $$$!)

I think Disney can offer as many special offerings as people will pay for. I wouldn't do it, but some will. And if that helps Disney rake in the big bucks, then more power to them. I'm sure some people who love Disney and love theater would really enjoy an event like this, and some of them can afford to pay it. It's not our choice how others spend their money.

I'm guessing (and it seems from the "article") that people will not be backstage during the show. That would not be a good idea. At all.

Agamble-I agree. To those who are big theater fans and frozen fans on top of that with money to spend they will spend it. People spend money like this everyday for front row+ backstage access type events. I have a lot of people shake their heads at me for spending what I do each year on theater tix, but it's my thing. I love it. And if they also are AP holders then they aren't spending any more for park entry.
