We have made a deposit for our first cruise early next year and I was tempted to start researching excursions.

The day at Rum Point sounds great. the DCL price is 45 pp (I think). Most people say on here that if you are doing a beach excusion, you can do it cheaper yourself.

If that is true, has anyone done it themself? I udnerstand it is a day at the beach, but what is there as far as bathrooms, resturants and shade?

Any help greatly appreciated.

We usually vacation on Grand Cayman and were just there. It is my understanding that Rum Point is still very torn up from Ivan. You might want to see about that. Also, all beaches on Grand Cayman are public access beaches, meaning that you can use the beach anywhere you want (on seven mile beach) and it is free, including all the resorts. However, all the resorts will check your i.d. for using facilities, chairs, etc. There is a public beach on the north end of seven mile beach with chairs, etc. that any cab driver at the port will know. Hope that helps!
