Rum Cakes in Nassau?

Can anyone tell me exactly where we can find rum cakes in Nassau? We will be doing the Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day and I am hoping to squeeze in some time when we get back to pick up some rum and rum cakes before getting back on the ship. I am hoping it is not far from the ship. We had gotten some rum and rum cakes in Grand Cayman when we did the 7 night western 2 years ago and LOVED them!

Also, does anyone know if they have the flavored rums like they have in Grand Cayman? My favorite was the Mango Rum - I only had gotten a small bottle of it and hope to get a much larger one in Nassau! Do they have the free rum tastings like in GC?

Pick up a shopping map of Nassau while onboard and you will see the Tortuga Rum shop is about a 5 minute walk from the port terminal. They have cake samples but haven't seen any rum samples. Since it's a Tortuga Rum shop, they have all flavors of Tortuga rum.

They have Tortuga rum cakes for purchase on the ship too...not sure about the flavored rums tho'. I like to go to the shop in Nassau because I get rum-flavored teas which they also have, and that gives me an excuse to have some cake samples.

In Jan. we were told they no longer carry the rum cakes on the Wonder. Not sure if they were just out of them, but the clerk told my daughter they don't sell them.

Ugh, bummer about the on-board cakes. I'll see if there are any on the Magic next week as we don't get back to the Wonder until May. It was nice to be able to get them on board if we didn't feel like disembarking.

I picked up a rum cake in Nassau on my last trip Jan 2009. I payed $6 for the rum cake. I got home and made a run to the local Ralphs and sitting right on the shelf was the very same cake for the same price as in Nassau. So gave your local supermarket a look. I live in Cal. I think back east they are King Soopers

Flavoured rums, all flavours are available in our local liquor stores and grocery stores. Malibu makes lots of flavours. The price may be less in the Bahamas, but you can't bring them home on the plane.

On our Jan. 30th cruise the Magic did have rum cakes on board (6 flavors) in different sizes and a 6 pack multi pack....I think they also had the rum also in some flavors.

In terms of St. Maarten and St. Thomas the price of the cakes were all really similar a few were a dollar cheaper than on board and others were higher priced than onboard.

We purchased Tortuga Rum Cakes on board. They came in packs of three and six I believe. We had regular, chocolate, coconut, banana, and pineapple. By buying on the boat you don't have to lug them around and the price was very comparable..

Sorry but out of desperation I have tried the flavored Malibu rum (the mango) and it tastes NOTHING like the rum that I picked up in Grand Cayman. The rum from GC was extremely smooth and pretty sweet and could easily be sipped alone. I hope that I can find the same rum in Nassau. And yes - you can bring it home on the plane. You have to check it though and it cannot be opened.

Ok - reading over my posts here I have to say seriously, I am NOT a lush! I made my last little bottle of rum last at least 2 months! Just so enjoyed sipping on it and thinking back to my vacation.

What brand? The local liquor stores here have so many differnt choces, but not all brands get imported to the US.

As far as bringing it back, I wouldn't trust the baggage handlers with anything breakable. But that;s just me.

My DH loves their rum and we searched for it in the Midwest.
I went to the local Binny's Beverage Depot to get him some other rum that was recomended by a friend and guess what I found???

This plan kind of back fired since when he ran out of rum he was ready to go on another cruise.

We have hit the Tortuga Rum factory on our last 3 Wonder cruises. Very short walk from the dock. We have not tried their rum, but maybe we can do that when we go on the Dream next May?

We were told on the Wonder this week that they no longer carry the rum cakes on board.
