We are staying over at BW Stovalls and plan to walk most of the time. I just figured we could cut throug the GCH and use their entrance to get into the California Adventure however my friend told me that its just for guests. I thought you could use it but not the first hour of park opening. Anyone know for sure? I would hate to try it and be denied.

Thanks :) Three more sleeps and then we are Disneybound!

They started getting strict on "guests only" when WOC opened. Not sure if it's strictly enforced still.

It may depend on crowds. Information is quite vague on this topic. Is there a specific time when all guests can use it? Are there specific place you can eat to have valid reciept to enter with? These answers seem to change often.

I just stayed at the GC on Sat .... i noticed that once the park opens for everyone (10:00 am), they no longer ask to see your room card to check to see if you are staying at the hotel.

If you get denied it is not that big of a deal. You can always backtrack to the regular entrance which will take about 5 minutes.

Exiting thru the GCH entrance is always allowed. Entering is allowed later in the day for everyone. Not first thing in the morning. Sometimes by noon. Always allowed if you are a DLR hotel guest.

I think the enforcement of this rule is spotty and definitely depends on the crowd level and/or time of day.

For sure first thing in the morning they will ask for a room key to obtain entrance. Prior to WOC, I have shown them a receipt from breakfast at Storyteller's and they allowed us through first thing in the morning (i.e. before 10am). I haven't attempted this after WOC, when they really started enforcing the onsite guest only rule.

Perhaps someone else has done so after WOC? The only real sticking point is before 10am. Post 10am, I have entered/exited at that gate multiple times and have not been asked to show a room key.

As a side note, I am guessing that after the grand re-opening of DCA, the rules for use of the GCH entrance will probably be tightened once more.
