What are the rules for those who choose to bring their own golf cart into Fort Wilderness? Can we bring ours if we were to rent a cabin? We don't pull our trailer anymore and still would like to check out the place in a cabin, but don't want to have golf cart withdraw watching others cruise. I know carts can be rented but that is stupid when we have three of our own already.

You can bring your own cart no problem. But the rules are the same for your cart as the rented carts.

Thanks for the reply. I think the next time we visit it will be worth getting a cabin at FW and to bring the golf carts. We will be heading down next week but already have reservations at our timeshare off site. The next trip we will most likely bring my parents and they will help offset the extra cost of a cabin, since my mom won't stay anywhere else except on Disney property. Of course bringing my folks, means they have to have their cart too.

The only problem we will have is deciding which one of ours to bring. The 2001 Club Car with 6" lift, leds, hockey themed of course, or the 1992 Yamaha G9 big block .....18hp of speed. The 2005 Club Car will certainly come since that's the one Mom bought for the collection.

Did you do the big block your self. What did it cost you. Whats your top speed.
I have a g-16 and have been thinking of doing this.

Actually the big block was done by someone else. We made a cart swap last summer after we saw the cart in action at our rally. We've had it up to oabout 35 but the valves started to float. Planning on getting this problem solved over the summer with a kit from CPP. If you have ever been to the forum over at BU, or know what I am talking about you can see our carts for yourself. We have a thread over there with our carts. If we get the Vangaurd upgrades we should be able to manage over 40 with no troubles. Even now, that cart is a blast!!!!!! Especially when we come up on little old ladies at our campground who are poking about and we pass them as fast as we can. It's also fun speeding past the primitive campers who sit at their sites drooling over all the golf carts at the campground.

Our forum name over at BU is not the same one as here, if you want to check out our carts pm for the other name.

Thanks for the reply. I just played with the governor on our cart and put a 7" lift on it with 22" tires. Then I was able to hit 27 mph. I have been to BU and lurked but never posted or even joined.

I really need to do something about speeding mine up....I DID gain 2mph by changing the cables and cleaning the posts...now Im up to a whopping 13mph!!!!! Better hold on tight, buddy!!!!

I just really hate havin to hear the ol'lady whining about me "wasting" money on my toys that I lose interest in after 6 months.

Hey,,once your buggy is ready,,and your wife feels the breeze blow'n thru her hair at a whooping 17 MPH,,she'll stop her whining and want more. SPEED,SPEED, faster buggy,,,oh you know , I was talk'n bout the buggy. Our buggy is straight up no frills electric . We avarage 17-20 MPH depending on how many ride it at a time. Mr.:goofy:

Yes, but you can tell her since you go to FW over and over again, you won't lose interest and therefore she can withhold yelling at you about it and let you spend all the money on it...sometimes it works with DH!;)

thats what I di with Lisa. I told her that the money we spend on renting, we could buy one ( we normally try to go about 3 weeks a year ). It doesn't move while were at home but I still get to tinker with it between trips to keep me out of trouble,,,,or a least try..:rotfl2:

We really want to get a cart, and we would use it at least 5 days a week, Our driveway is 800' long, and at $4.29 a gallon for diesel, its getting expensive to take the little brat to the bus and pick him up. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Get you a yamaha gas they dont burn much fuel at all and it dose not take much to get them movein faster.

We started looking about 8 months ago, but haven't found any good bargains. Property control at disney had about 8 carts from $150-550. The $150 had a tree fall on it :lmao: but the ones in the 4-500 range looked really good. We would have brought one home with us, but we went on our 2nd monday, and they wouldn't be released until the next wed, so would have to make second trip. They are on a sealed bid basis, but my cousin says that stuff there NEVER goes for more than the base bid. There is just too much of everything for any CM to bid more, just wait till next week.

Just put a seat belt on the back seat and your DS can ride on back.;)

Around the Cincinnati area, you can pick up a decent gas Club Car or Yamaha Cart for anywhere between 2700 - 6700 depending on how much bling you want. Bone stock 2003 Club Car gasser is 2700. The Club Cars are off golf courses but completely revamped prior to being sold. The dealer has been in business for 35 years.
