Rules around recognizing CMs?

I know it's possible to give shout-outs to CMs after the fact, but wondering if there are any rules (spoken or unspoken) around what exactly CMs are allowed to accept from guests.

I generally carry around a few Starbucks gift cards — nothing crazy, just $5 or $10 — for service industry folks who are going above and beyond. Would something like this be allowed at the parks? I don't want to put anyone in a weird position where they need to decline, and I can't tell if they're being polite, or truly disallowed from accepting on-the-spot recognition.

No this is not allowed. A cm could be fired if they are seen accepting money from a guest. The best way is to do a CM complement, either through the App or in person at guest services. These are official and get put on their employee record and count as points for things like promotions, schedule requests or transfers. When they are done through the APP, they pop up on the cm's profile when they log in to the internal system.

If it has an identifiable monetary value? No. They can't accept as mentioned.

But small handmade gifts? Little notes? Those are okay. I've made small gifts for CMs before. Several CMs have made TikToks answering this exact question of what is and isn't allowed for them to accept.

The identifiable monetary value heuristic is super helpful. I'll steer clear of the gift cards, then.

Love that you made handmade gifts for some.

My daughter sometimes gets cute little gifts that usually go along with her character (Pluto). Kids will give her a ball or a squeeze toy or something like that and she loves the thoughtfulness.
