Rude resort security guards?

I agree with this thread title. I rented a car from Alamo on Wednesday to drive to Honeymoon Island, but before I could head off, I had to turn back to CSR to Casitas 5 where my room was to grab some stuff I forgot. Arriving at the front gate, the security guard seemed put off that I drove up and basically lectured me for trying to get to the Casitas from the front gate, as if I was (A) supposed to know, or (B) that it made some sort of problem for him. He seemed really annoyed to give me directions on how to get to the Casitas area. I would've figured it out anyway; I was just stopping at the gate because there was, well, a gate in my way and didn't need his lecture.

Most of the security in Disney comes across that way. They are very aloof and unfriendly. I do not think it is acceptable, but there seems to be an attitude that comes with that job in general. (like TSA) For the most part, they are there to be alert and watch what is happening, they don't care about being nice....they are not trained to be nice, they are trained to be security.

I've never seen this. All my encounters with security at WDW, since 1981, have been short and direct, but pleasant.

Holy frozen chocolate covered Mickey heads! Me old thread has come back to life!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

When you use the term "rent a cop" you mean nothing but disrespect! A lot of the people doing these jobs are ex law enforcement or ex military people who actually want to work in a positive atmosphere after many years dealing with only the negative. I have spent 22 years so far working in a prison and the term "rent a cop" is the worst thing you could call me. I do not have the power to arrest on the street but i do get the privilege of walking around with murderers and rapists with no more than a radio and a set of handcuffs. The term "rent a cop" is nothing but deragatory even if you might not realize it. All of my experiences at Disney gates have been nothing but positive, I am so impressed when at the end of my weeks stay I am recognized. I will retire from the prison in 14 years with 36 years working behind bars and would love to find a job working somewhere like Disney where I can actually smile and expect a smile back but I would hope no one ever calls me a "rent a cop".

One time we were going to drive and leave at like 8 or 9 at night and by my calculations would get us to DW around 8am. Well after watching the news some bad weather was suppose to roll in so we decided to leave early.

So as we got on the road I called CRB and explained the weather issue and that we would arrive way early and had no problem if I had to pick up another night to stay. They advised me it was no problem and away we went.

I get to the resort around 4am and met the friendliest security guard.... NOT
I gave him my ID, and he told me I was not on the list till tomorrow. I told him the whole story and was told that I had to turn around and come back at 6am. ?????? I even asked him to call the desk and verify BUT NOOOOOOO
(There were some more words exchanged after too but you get the picture)

I then told him I was not moving and asked to speak to the manager on duty. After speaking with the manager, I was allowed in and given a room. I was also refunded my park tickets as an apology.
