I work on the phones at work..I am a customer service agent at a credit card company. We take incoming complaint calls..nine times out of ten it is an easy problem to fix or no problem at all...

I got cussed out by an elderly lady on saturday for working on a holiday weekend...One said I do not want you, I want to speak to your ^%$#$#@ machine!!! I tried to help her and she called me a nosey B word as I had to ask her for her account number and hung up...

Takes all kinds in this world....

Please please please.......don't EVER do this again! I'm sure I don't have to tell you how extremely lucky you were....we had a guy taking his child to school less than a half mile from my house one morning get shot to death because he did this to see why a guy was tailgating him. While I feel for you, I truly believe your children are lucky to have a parent today. I can't imagine how that child felt when her Dad was killed on the way to school one day, just because he was feeling macho, or having a bad day or whatever. So many people truly are unbalanced or short tempered in this day and age.

I was in the local Build a Bear recently, with my daughter's Brownie Troop. The girls were being very well behaved and the store was not crowded. One of the sales people was being very snippy to the girls. Usually the sales people there are wonderful -- nice and friendly. I thought her attitude was wrong, especially since the girls were not being any trouble.

When I went to pay for a bunny for my younger daughter I was rung up by the same woman who set up my daughter's bunny. I asked her if she was the manager and she told me she was. I told her about the rude employee and I pointed her out to the manager. She said she would speak to her about her behavior.

I have to say that I encountered the RUDEST old woman ever today!

We were at Lowe's and we were standing in a line at the paint counter. The "lady" in front of us had a list of what she wanted. She spouted off some #s that identified the paint. The boy working behind the counter went off to go find her paint. He came back with two different kinds and asked her which one was it. She said "Are you an IDIOT, can you not read! I gave you the numbers!" The poor boy then proceeded to tell this "pit-bull" that the numbers were for the paint but there was an A and B type. The "pit-bull" then turned around to ME and said "Can you believe that Lowe's hires idiots like this that can't even read?" I smile sweetly and tell her "I can not believe Lowe's allows idiots like you to shop here."

She turned about 10 shades of red and left the store. That poor boy that she harassed was so relieved.

I laways assume that folks who have to belittle others are pathetic losers who have to make someone lese seem small so they can feel big.

I was going to start a new thread but it seems to fit here.

Last night we went to MGM for fireworks. After that we went to the 10:30 Fantasmic which was just packed. The crowd getting out was even worse then getting in. Think of hundreds of people leaving the same area at the same time and most cranky after a very long hot day. We have been through this many times and were taking our time and not pushing through the crowd. Well, here comes this lady from behind pushing her way through and after pushing me like 3 times I finally elbowed her to get her off me. She pushed her way past us and at this point my DH told me that she had made a punching motion towards the back of my head (he didn't know about the pushing or me elbowing her to get her off me so he had no idea why she did that) so I proceeded to tell him about her pushing me, well she didn't like that and she came back to where we were at and was yelling at both of us. Saying she wasn't pushing and I pushed her and she was just going nuts (while this was going on the people in her party wouldn't even make eye contact, like they were embarassed or something). After some words were exchanged between her and DH she turned around and proceeded to push her way through the crowd...again. No, she didn't push me, but yet she ended up way in front of us, I guess she just got lucky and found an open path through the crowd that no one else found.. I just found it very rude that the crowd was moving very slow but this one person decided she was going to push her way through no matter who she knocked over in the process. The people in front of us must of thought fists were going to fly because they were trying real hard to move out of the way, even though there was no place to go.

I deal with rude people on an almost daily basis. We just put a policy in place where we have to see ID from EVERYONE for alcohol and tobacco purchases. This was put in place for all stores owned by the company and was put in place by the owners. Do we all like having to ask people over 30 for ID? no, but we HAVE to, it's a policy and if you don't follow policy you get fired. Since this started we have been getting yelled at, called names and threatened...(they are going to call Rochester; that's where our main office is, and complain) Who do they think put the policy in place? Managers have the ok to over ride the system, but we have to explain about the policy and let them know that next time they will need to show ID..even if they are 80 yrs old. I think it's a dumb policy...but I am one of the ones that can over ride it...so I get yelled at alot. I had a man...maybe about 35 tell me that I need to go back to school and get a real job. First off I'm 46...and this is a real job. So in a very nice and pleasant voice I told him he needed to go back to school and learn some manners. I am waiting to hear if I have a complaint called or writen in over that one.

While grocery shopping when I was (obviously) 8 months pregnant, WITH my 10-month-old in the cart, I was standing at the end of a long cashier line that started to head into the aisle. A large, rude woman appeared to deliberately ram her cart into me and my cart and told me to get the Hell out of the way!

More recently, a so-called friend of mine screamed at my dd5 in the local gym's babysitting room while she was in there dropping off her kids (who are friends with my kids), because my dd picked up her dd's sunglasses off the food table -- where kids' personal items aren't supposed to be anyway. When I later calmly asked her what happened (b/c I wasn't in the room at the time and had to be called in) -- knowing full well that my dd may have done something wrong -- I didn't even get the full story out of this "friend" b/c she started ranting and raving and stormed off to the babysitting room and called the babysitters out to rip into them about telling me about it. To this day, I will not speak to that woman. It would be one thing if she calmly told me what had happened. It would be another if she was just worried her dd's $5 sunglasses would get broken (that she KNOWS I would've replaced in a heartbeat) -- but the way she reacted when I tried to open up the dialogue between us told me the whole story... NOBODY yells at my kids like that for something that trivial and can go on thinking it's okay. They actually wrote up an incident report on her because she works in the fitness room as an employee.

At work on Saturday night, I was serving drinks to a table of mine. A lady from another table, not one of mine, told me to move, that I was in the way of her taking pictures of a "group" activity that was going on in the restaurant.

WE are a small family with just one son, who at the time was just 6, back in 2000. We had patiently sat on the kerb in preparation for the Electric Light parade, so that DS could have a good view. Imagine our annoyance, when some "Foreigners" (ok we're from the UK, so fall into the same catagory!), but of the non english speaking variety, shoved their much older kids through the crowds and onto the pavement in front of DS. These obnoxious kids had got no manners whatsoever and when we asked them to move, they just looked at us as if we had 3 heads (well between us we did!) They obviously thought that they had every right to push in and enjoy the best view, and also enjoy the park rides right up until the last possible minute. Anyway it managed to ruin the parade for us in a way as I just simmered away quietly to myself. I'd like to know what these type of people get out of being so rude and obnoxious.

Kelli, you are absolutely right, I was very foolish to get out of my car to tell off the man behind me. And I've vowed not to do something like that again! It just disturbs me to think that people who are rude and obnoxious get away with it, and people who respect others are the ones cowed and trembling because they are too scared to stick up for their moral rights and principles. No wonder we have so many examples of rude behaviour; these people get away with it so often (although a few of the previous posters have certainly addressed the rudeness in a very effective way!).

But I will behave myself and act safely! But as a parent and as a human being, I worry about a world where rudeness seems to be so much the norm!

At the fourth of July this weekend in Salem, MA we (DBF and I and Monty Dog) were seated by an older couple and a few families with small kids. They were all great. THEN...

A large gaggle of teens dressed like wanna be punk rockers showed up and stood behind us. Theere wer emaybe 8 girls and 8 boys, all between 15-17. The girls were worse than the boys belching loudly and cursing. It was disgusting and awful. They have no sense of respect whatsoever. Finally, DBF got up and went over to the police working security and asked the officer if he could remove the kids because we were so sick of listening to these girls belch and then curse and giggle about it. No class whatsoever. They were just so awful.

So the cop came over and yelled at the little brats and told them to leave. They refused to leave and it got pretty ugly for a bit. Finally the cops took away one particulalry drunk/stoned boy and the rest sat on the grass in front of us, and continued to be rowdy. The most hilarious part was the one girl who had been yelled at and told that if she belched loudly again she would be removed. The cop was like, if you have that bad of a case of gas you should stay home.

Then when the cops left, the girl goes on and on and on about how "the 'pigs' just 'labeled' them and were harrassing them because of how they were dressed" (they were dressed, by the way, like total freaks in black with spiky things, they kind of looked like drugged up morbid clowns...)

HAHA! You silly girl. I know you wanted to whine about how the cops were picking on you , but the real reason was because my DBF pointed you out for being disgusting and vile. When you left, the elderly couple and the people with the toddlers you were swearing at all applauded.

Shortly after the belching teens fiasco, two sleazy looking young adults stood in front of us, next to the family with 3 small kids we'd been chatting with. The kids had been having a great time playing with Monty dog! Anyway - on top of blocking the view for the small children, this couple proceeds to come near close to having sex while standing there. Oh my god. I'm no prude but this was downright obscene. I finally started just talking very loudly about how gross it was. Eventually they went away (presumably to rent a room)

Then an hour before the show, an older couple with their teenage son and his girlfriend sat in front of us. (These two teens were polite and seemed like upstanding young adults). The parents moved back near us to stand up for a bit. They stayed there talking to us for a while and planned to go back and sit with their son and his GF when the show started.

Then, 5 minutes before the fireworks started, a gaggle of very large women showed up and squeezed in between us, and the couple's kids 10 feet in front of us. There really was no space for them so they moved the couples blanket which was next to their sons. The son tried to protest but I didn't hear what transpired at that point. One enourmous woman tried to sit on our blanket but DBF stretched his legs out so far so she could not lean back into us without getting a sneaker in the butt!

The couple asked them to move because they were in their spot where they planned to go back to their son. Well, the large ladies started screaming at the older couple, swearing at them and telling them they asked if they could sit there and no one complained (they certainly did not ask the couple or their son!) and they would not move. (I'm suspect that the large ladies were drunk...nice, they had kids with them and they were drunk and behaving like this. )

Then, to make matters worse, during the show the large ladies would not SHUT UP! They were not even looking at the sky or talking about the show! They were yapping on about family gossip etc. It was so aggravating.


Aside from the belching teens, the gropers and the large ladies , it was a nice 4th. The nice, friendly people far outweighed the obnoxious rude ones. The sweetest thing was behind us, there was a family with two little boys. Listening to the 5 year old try and talk his parents into buying him a glow in the dark necklace was a RIOT! This kid should be a lawyer! And they also had a small baby and it was her first 4th and she just watched the fireworks in amazement. She was beautiful!

Tanya & I went to a good friend's birthday party for her 1 y/o daughter. Well, our friend's father was striking up a conversation with someone else about how in the civil war "If Custer woulda done things right there'd be none of those D*@! indians running around anymore." and how "If they woulda had semi-automatic weapons they coulda butchered those stupid red-skins".

Seeing as how Tanya is seminole indian, I found this quite rude. Luckily enough Tanya didn't hear any of it, and I didn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin my friend's daughter's birthday. If I see him on the streets though, it's gonna be on!
