We went in for dinner tonight, DH's idea and of course I couldn't argue with that. I asked our server if they would sell me the whole cheesecake and he said no and gave me some excuse about the slices being precut when they receive the cakes (why that makes a differance I have no idea). Then when he brought our dinner, he accidentally poured gravy all over DD's dress (luckily it didn't get her). When the manager came over she said dessert was on her and DH joked about selling me a whole cheesecake, she said sure, all she had to do was check to see if they had extras and she'd sell it for $29.99 and any RT will do it if they have enough. So I have a few weeks supply in the freezer. So if you want to buy a whole one, you might want to ask the manager......and it's the same one that you can buy online but without the 35.00 shipping.

Ginger,

This is one bit of dangerous information for me to have! :)

Thanks, I think . . . :hyper:

But think of it this way...if you freeze all but one piece....you could stretch that one piece out for two days.....then it will take time to thaw out another piece. So you could make a whole one last for almost a month:D That was my justification (and DH was tired of paying $5.00 for one piece)

I like your rationale on this . . . and I'm glad we don't live near one another, I have a feeling we might be a bad influence on each other! Just kidding - I do appreciate having this info. I know there are times I want to make a dessert for a party and I'm at a loss so this would be a good suggestion for me to keep in mind. Thanks again!!!

I just posted this on another thread called " best atkins dessert" I have to tell you guys that you can make a great cheesecake at home! I swear........

I feel it is my duty to report this to you guys, I have made it three times and its fast easy and MUCH MUCH cheaper than anything you can buy!

Check out lowcarbfriends.com and check under cheesecake.......there are a few but this particualr one is named " the perfect cheesecake"

It definitely is, I have served this many times and have not told anyone it has no sugar........ I swear no one has noticed, it taste EXACTLY.like a good cheescake.

Let me know if you try it! But please do, dont waste your money otherwise!

Wiskband...is this the same as the Beachgirl's cheesecake?? I know I tried that one and it just wasn't creamy enough. I agree, it's much cheaper to make your own then to buy it at RT's.

Thanks gshoemate and wiskband:

That recipe is very similar to Beachgirls but very detailed in how to treat it.

I must say, I FINALLY made a GOOD Beachgirl cheesecake, I can honestly say it's almost as good as Ruby Tuesday's!

I used the water bath this time and it was VERY creamy. I also used the Davinci syrups, vanilla and hazelnut, instead of all Splenda per Kath's advice and boy was it good!! I also used almond extract because that's what I tasted in RT's cheesecake and boy, what a taste!

In fact, my best friend asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday and at first I thought, Ruby Tuesday but I changed it because I don't really need them anymore!

Of course, it was my inspiration and will always be what I strive for!

Time to brag here....guess it pays to be an employee....I got my cheesecake for waaaaaaaaay less than $29.99! ;) We also sold one to a guest for about $5 cheaper than what you paid, but I think it just depends from one manager to the next. ENJOY THAT CHEESECAKE! I hope yours lasts longer than mine did....all of about 3 days, but I did purchase it for Thanksgiving last year.

The recipe that I found on www.lowcarbfriends.com is called perfect cheesecake. It mentions replacing on block of cream cheese with sour cream. The first few times I didnt do this (it was still good) but a frined of mine made it withthe sour cream and Ill tell ya, it made all the difference, it was so much more creaimer~!

anyway here it is so you don have to look of it!
Please all you cheescake lovers try it, its easyfast cheap and deliccccccccccc

Perfect Cheesecake
Ingredients: ~5 (8-ounce) blocks cream cheese, softened*
~1-3/4 cups Splenda sugar substitute (add more if necessary and see if it's sweet enough)
~2-1/2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
~3 tsp lemon juice

~2 teaspoons vanilla extract
~1/4 teaspoon salt
~5 large eggs
~(*OR 4 blocks of cream cheese and one cup of sour cream)

How To Prepare: ~To prepare the filling, beat cheeses at high speed of mixer until smooth.

~Add Splenda and the next 4 ingredients (through salt); beat well.

~Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition, but not overbeating. (Add the sour cream last and just stir through.)

~Spray a springform pan with No-Stick spray. Pour the cheese mixture into prepared pan. Tap pan on counter to get rid of air bubbles.

~Place the cheesecake in a bigger pan and after you put it on the shelf in the oven, pour very hot water about 1" into the pan to make a water bath -- the cheesecake cooks more evenly that way)

~Bake at 325° or 350°F for 1 hour, or until cheesecake is almost set. The middle should still be a bit loose.

~Turn off oven and leave it in the oven up to 1 hour.

~Remove cheesecake from oven, run very sharp knife around the edge of the pan if it looks like it's sticking to the edge of the pan.

~Chill for at least 8 hours. When slicing, dip knife in very hot water between slices and wipe off knife for perfect pieces.

Optional: For the whipped cream: I beat about 1/3 cup heavy cream with approx 1 TBS Splenda. I decorate the top with whipped cream and top with fresh raspberries. It’s been a big hit.

Number of Servings: 20 slices
Carbs per serving (including complete nutritional information if known): 3 or 4
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Effort (Easy, Average, Difficult): Average

have fun!
