I gatta ask: Can I stick one of those cheap use and afford to loose ones in the microwave with the lid if I poke holes in the lid? I want to explode some peeps (So not my idea) without making a HUGE mess. Will this work? Also my youngest DC wants to know if peeps burn?

They don't really explode. It won't cover the top sides of ur microwave. They blow up till about 25 times there size than implode on themselves. We have never set one on fire. They do get stinking and really hard, and stick to whatever bowl you have them in.

But if you want to toast them, it takes bout 10-12 seconds, and they are yummy.

Peeps will burn, but not in a microwave. They are essentially marshmallow, so if you put them over an open flame, they will catch on fire just like a marshmallow.

Our local children's museum does a fun lab show where they "torture" Peeps- they burn them, freeze tham in liquid nitrogen, microwave them, and put them in a vacuum container to see what happens. The kids love it!! :cool1:

My kids explode their peeps in the microwave every year. Not sure why but they seem to enjoy it! :rotfl:

You can just set it on a paper plate and watch as it grows and, like another poster said, implodes in on itself.

Now if you want to do something really fun with the microwave, set a raw egg in there and turn it on.......now that is some real fun and a real mess! :thumbsup2

were gonna take one out to the sidewalk and light it up. What happens to a peep in the vacume cleaner? Were into peep torture.

A Peeps Abuse thread! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I guess we can't add the disclaimer: "No Peeps were harmed in the making of this thread." :(

I wonder if I should alert the Mods. What do I write? "Peeps Abuse" ?
:scratchin ;)

What is a peep? :confused3

Those little Eastertime colored sugar covered marshmallow birds- they come 4 to a pack, I think. The origionals came in yellow or pink. Now, you can get several other colors (light green, lavender, baby blue), and bunnies as well as the birdies.

Not a vacuum cleaner- a clear jar where they take out all the air, creating a vacuum. Can't remember what happens- I think they swell up...

Thanks Momof Katie, we don't have peeps in Australia as far as I'm aware. They do sound cute.

Cheers

Peeps do not explode they just grow larger. That is what is so fun about microwaving them. They grow into giant proportional peeps! We do it on a paper dish and watch it grow.

Do they make your microwave messy? :scared: Mine was just cleaned (by my fabulous stepdaughter :lovestruc) and I don't want to mess it up.

No. They just grow. We watch them and when they get really large we get them out. Then we watch them strink and shrivel up. The nieces and nephews were so impressed when I show them this about 3 or 4 years ago.:cool1:

How long do you nuke them for?

I've got a better one -- spaghetti squash. Apparently I didn't put enough fork holes in it before microwaving. It exploded (literally), and the door of the microwave burst open. Looked like guts spread all over the microwave. My own personal version of Veggie Tales from the Crypt.
