Return to the Madness: Part 5 Day 3 2/27: Rain, Rain go Away, DH wants to go to ESPN Weekend to Play!

Cast:
Me: Obsessive Disney Planner, Disney Commando in 12 step program learning how to do Disney with kids!!!
DH 30- Loves Disney as much as me, but content to sit at the pool and watch the kids…
DD6- knows everything, or thinks she does
DD5- loves everything, especially if it is pink
DS4- loves Buzz. We call him Stitch, he is messy and destructive, but very cute.

Well, today we were going to go to MGM to check out ESPN the Weekend and do a few rides and see a few shows. Unfortunately, the forecast called for rain. We woke up when we heard the kids playing in their room. We had planned to have breakfast at Whispering Canyon around 9:30am. (I knew they kids would be up late the night before and still tired from their early day…also it was MGM pm EMH, and we had hoped to be up late taking advantage of the extra hours.) It wasn’t pouring when we looked out our window, but it was pretty close. We hoped maybe the rain would pass, or at least lighten up a little. We figured we would go have a nice relaxing, quiet breakfast at WC. (quiet, yea right! ;) )

We got to WC right before our PS time, and were seated right away. Boy was it loud. We saw our friend Sean, although we were not seated in his section. The kids colored in pictures for him. Breakfast was very busy, and our server was not really in the mood to play. We asked for ketchup, but when she yelled out the customary, “KETCHUP” it was so loud and her voice so soft, no one heard her. Oh well….DH and I both had the skillet. I think for breakfast, it is a pretty good deal. We ate way too much, and wanted to go back to bed. The kids had each ordered the kids pancakes, but I decided from then on they would be sharing as it was way too much for one little kid to eat.

We made it over to MGM around noon. It was still pouring…and the crowds were almost non-existent. We tried to get DS on TOT…we measured him at home and he was just over the 40” mark…so we thought we would give it a try. The CM at the gate took a card (baseball size) out of his pocket, and slid it between DS’s head and the height measure thing. That was all that fit between his head and the thing, no exaggeration… so DS could not ride. DH was irritated by the rain, and decided to head back to the WL…but not before checking out the ESPN show they were taping. He and DS tried to get on tv….we are not sure they ever did though….while I rode TOT, with no wait, with the girls. The rain did not seem to be letting up, and although we had our ponchos, no one was really in the mood to get drenched….except the kids who of course wanted to go swimming.

We all decided why not…we are already wet. The kids donned their life jackets and headed for the slide. DH and I found that if we sat with our feet in the Jacuzzi we could still see the whole pool. I actually sat in the Jacuzzi, while DH kept only his feet in. Even though it was raining it was actually fun, and a little crowded.
DH and I decided that since the rain was scheduled to continue all day, we would let the kids swim their hearts out. We talked about what we should do for dinner. I mentioned a few of the options and we settled on O’Hana’s, which we had never tried before. I went to the front desk to see if they could get me a PS. No luck. We were trying to decide what we should do as we all walked back to the room. I decided to try Disney Dining. I am so glad I did…they got us a PS for the exact time we wanted. We all showered and changed and decided to take the boat to the Contemporary and then the monorail to the Poly. It turned out that we took the boat to the MK, and then another boat to the Poly. We made it with plenty of time.

O’Hana’s was so cool. The first course was really good. The kids all enjoyed the chicken wings, and DD6 loved the green beans. We all enjoyed the salad, and bread. When the Cousins started coming by with skewers full of turkey, pork, shrimp, and steak everyone was excited. Everyone that is except DD5. She tried a little of everything, but opted for a PBandJ, which she devoured. DD6 and DS loved the meats and the shrimp. DH ate his weight in shrimp. Halfway through our meal, there was a cocoanut race for the kids. They had a blast, and were excited to get the gummy worm reward at the end.

After a great meal, we took the monorail to the MK and decided to go for a ride on the Railroad before heading back to the WL. (We have Premium Annual Passes, and I thought we were so cool, just to be going to the MK for a train ride around the grounds.)
The kids thought it was neat…since we had never done it before. After our relaxing ride on the RR, we took the boat back to WL for…you guessed it….more swimming. It was around 730pm, and the rain finally stopped. We let the kids swim as long as they wanted, and then we headed for bed!

Up Next: A busy day at MK!

Thanks for your words on O'Hana's. We've been trying to decide if our DS would enjoy it. I know he'd like the atmosphere but he's also a very picky eater. Hardly any meat and NO fish. He'll probably have PB& J too!!!
