We are getting married May of 2009 and were wondering when we should send out our invitations. We are inviting around 300 people, but have only blocked our min amount of rooms because honestly we have no idea how many people will actually come. We wanted to send the invites out very early so our guests can book rooms asap and if possible the rsvp's early so we will be able to invite more people if many of the first one's decline. What would be good dates to send out invites and request our rsvps??

since you're having a destination wedding and most people (i'm assuming) will have to travel. i'd send them out as soon as possible. i sent mine out in the middle of november for my jan 24 wedding and that was entirely too late. i only gave myself a month for rsvp's (another big no-no) and i was a wreck 2 weeks before my wedding when i was still waiting on 45 responses. if i had it to do again, i'd give myself twice as much time...at least.

ETA: by as soon as possible, i didn't mean NOW, just like, sooner than i did.

I really think how many people come depends on where they are coming from. We are coming from the Pacific NW and many of the people we are inviting are coming from CA so of 133 invited we have about 45 but I think for people who are coming from the SE or the East Coast they are going to have more people come.

I sent STD out already for my April 09 wedding. However, I am having a much smaller wedding than you are and am able to keep tabs on my wedding guests easier.

my invitations went out 5-1-08 and I recieved 4 back as of 5-5-08.
We are having a wishes wedding on 8/28/08 and our rsvp is 07/05/08.

We're getting married on DCL April 30th, 2009. Due to the nature of our wedding I actually emailed anyone we're inviting to see if they wanted me to book a room for them. I made sure to include in the email "Due to the nature of what we're doing you'll actually receive your invitation AFTER you've RSVPed!" Everyone's okay with that.

We're going to have 2 invitiations really - 1 simple one for those who cannot attend and a more elaborate one with informational inserts for those who can. No one has been bothered or offended by the "unconventional" way we're doing things. They understand!

Also, I'm pleasantly surprised that we already have about 50 people sailing with us! And a few haven't RSVPed yet either so that number may grow.
