Hi. This board has been extremely helpful with planning our upcoming trip.
We would like to ride RSR at DCA, first thing, to minimize our wait. We're staying at the Grand Californian. My question is about entering the park. How early does the entrance into DCA open from the hotel? Would we be better off using the main park entrance, at rope drop?

I think the main park entrance puts you closer to the ride so unless the GCH entrance opens before the main entrance I think you would be behind if you entered from GCH.

Right. That's what I'm asking. When does the GCH entrance open? I'm assuming there are fewer people in line at the GCH entrance. How early does that entrance open? Does it open with the main entrance? We're fast walkers. No kids.

We entered DCA on Sunday through the GCH entrance. We got to the entrance at around 8:05 and were in the park in under 10 minutes. They’d been letting people in for at least 5 minutes by the time we got there. It looked like they opened that entrance at the same time as the front. As we got to the entrance to the pier, there was only 1-2 groups of people walking in from the direction of the front gates.

Thank you for reporting your experience. Hope this is how it happens for us.

All reports I've seen, the main entrance doesn't start allowing people into the parks till 8:15am at the earliest. So if you can enter through GCA at 8am, that would be your best option.

Just FYI, RSR wasn’t open yet when we entered the park Tuesday at 8:20am. It was a bummer as we never did get to ride it as the wait was too long all day and the kids couldn’t handle an hour-plus wait.

They let us in the main entrance to DL (they started letting people in DCA at the same time) at a few minutes past 8 last Saturday. It’s possible that happened Sunday, too, but I can only go off of when we got in through the GCH entrance.

All depends on the day. On saturday we were ON RSR at 8:15 because the gates opened about 8. Took a few minutes for us to get through the gates because we werent at the front and then the walk and short wait for RSR. There is no set time to open. The bigger the crowd at the gates the earlier they seem to open.
