Am I missing something or did I do something wrong because I cannot figure what is so great about the RsG auction. I read the description on the site but I do not really understand what it is .I looked at the RSG offerings and I think there like 3 and they looked really yucky. Am I in the wrong place?? What type of places should I be seeing? one of them looked like it was out in the middle of the desert and the only amenity was a pool!

I don't like RSG auditions either - but several people here do - maybe one can explain it.

Well, try browsing availability for offseason, try Sept 1-30, 2 bedroom and see all the offerings. You can reserve any one of them for 24 hours, go out and win a RSG auction for around 50 making your total 50+195+15= 260 for the week. Individual auctions on some of these properties go for 6 or 10 winning bid but, for the most part, individual auctions go for more than that. Once you have a hold on a RSG property that you like, you know you won't have to pay much more than 50 to win the resort. If you browse Sept you might find a 3 bedroom at Cypress Grandvillas. Its not Marriot and you can get good deals on it thru Hotelkingdom, but its even cheaper if you get it with RSG auction. The 3 bedroom was there for weeks before I decided not to stay onsite and reserved unit and won RSG auction same day. A little over 260 for 7 nights, I may only use 4 or 5 but thats still a good deal. For Sept, you'll also find nice 2 bedrooms at Silver lakes, etc. So, RSG auctions can be a good deal in offseason. Its also fun to browse a few weeks before you go on your trip for something to pop up if you have reservations that can be cancelled. I had CPR booked thru HK but paid the $10 fee to decrease my reservation on the 2 bedroom to one day b/c I won a RSG auction on 3 br there. Someone was joining us for part of the time so it was nice to have the space ........ only used it 4 nights but for 263 worked out to 65.75 per night which was cheaper than HK.

In other words, the stars have to be aligned really well for an RSG to work out.

Skyauction can still be a good deal, but not like the incredible deal it was a few years ago.

My friend got Cypress Pointe Grand Villas on RSG.

I got Bryan's Spanish Cove on RSG and I know others have gotten Orbit One on RSG. I saw Polynesian Isles and Silver Lake also recently..........any of these, though maybe some of them are not stellar, are decent places I wouldn't mind staying....especially for $250-$300 for a week's stay.

We will be staying 2 weeks this Nov/Dec.....one week at CPGV and one week at Bryans SC all for $491!

I think you might have to book earlier than you used to. Last year I waited till last minute and it worked out great for Vistana. But I didn't want to chance it this year because this is the trip I've been planning for 3 years. By the beginning of Feb., I had our two places booked. People that were looking for summer were out of luck, but I believe we are seeing some places open up now for summer.

I guess it just depends on when you are going and if you want to chance a last minute deal or not.

I've stayed two weeks at CPGV during the food & wine festival, 2 weeks at CP around Christmas, 1 week at Kingstown Reef and 8 weeks at Silver Lake (I love the short drive). There is no way I could have ever spent so much time in near Disney if the cost was more than the $37 per night I paid by winning RSG auctions.

The condos I have stayed in are much nicer than the rooms I used to pay more for on Disney property.

More people are taking advantage of these deals and good condos get reserved quickly. So far, I have always been able to find a great condo during my travel dates.

Okay obviously I was doing something wrong. All I found was some resort in an unknown area that looked horrible. Of course I did it for august not Sept maybe that is the reason I did not get the better places. Maybe since it was on season they offer less. WE did however get two weeks at Vistana two bedroom for 50 per night not including the 195 and 15 but still that is not all that much more than the RsG and it was for the dates we needed. I was just wondering what the diff was and now maybe I figured it out.
