RSG auctions on Skyauction: Anyone NOT get the resort they put a hold on??

I'm trying to find out some info for a friend who will be going the second week in November.

I think she would only be interested in Cypress Point Grand Villas or Silver Lake. (2 bedrooms)

If she bid on a Ready,Set, Go auction, does she have a pretty good chance of getting either of those two if they show availability at the beginning of the auction AND she puts a request/hold on that property??

I know Skyauction has messed up on some reservations that were put in over a weekend (because they don't work Sat. ) and the "hold" was dropped. But for those of you that didn't have that computer "glitch", were you able to get your resort.

Just wondering if she should only bid on those particular resorts and just skip the RSG.

Thanks for your replies. :sunny:

I am a novice with skyauction; however, I had no problem bidding on the Ready, Set, Go auction and getting the reservation I had put on hold for Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. I won a Friday night auction and put my reservation on hold on Friday afternoon. I emailed skyauction on Saturday morning requesting my reservation. They didn't confirm anything until Sunday, but I did get the reservation that I put on hold.

I guess I was lucky to get the reservation I wanted considering what the other poster winning on the same night said about them being closed on Saturday. I actually decided to go with the Ready, Set, Go auction because you were supposed to be able to put your reservation on hold. The other auctions worry me because I would be afraid that my dates would be gone by the time I win the auction. Hopefully, they fixed the computer glitch!!

Skyauction has made mistakes a few times with me but always seem to do whatever they can to fix the problem.

I just made reservations for two weeks straight and won two separate auctions at CPGV. The messed up and sent me two reservations with the same one week listed. They fixed it immediately after my e-mail brought it to their attention.

Another time, I won a two bedroom unit in a regular auction. I called to confirm the room size on our way to Florida and found we had been assigned to the smallest one bedroom lockoff. I was really upset. They said the auction was a mistake and the two bedroom was never available. They said that no other two bedroom units were available at any of their resorts during that time frame. I asked if they could put in a request for a two bedroom at the resort if one opened up. At checkin, much to our surprise, we did end up getting a two bedroom unit. Plus Skyauction gave me $50 in Skycash for all the trouble.

They do make mistakes, but inventory changes all the time and they do seem to do their best to fix problems.

I was always as nice as could be with their customer service people in New York. I could tell there was a lot beyond their control but they did come through in the end for me.

The ones at CPGV were both Ready-Set-Go auctions. They generally cost less and are available further out than the individual condo auctions.

Since you are bidding so far out, I would think that even if they mess up the reservation they will have time to fix it.

By the way, I chose CPGV for my fall reservation since they are scheduled to have all of the furniture replaced this summer (except in the newest building G). According to their newletter, they are sprucing up the place to try to regain Royal Crown's Gold status during their inspection in August.

Silver Lake was undergoing major construction and repainting last fall. I'd call them first and find out the status of the work if this is an issue.
