Hi all - I just found out yesterday that I will be going to a seminar that is held late March at the RPR. I'm excited because I've never been to Universal, but kind of bummed because my family won't be able to go with me (school issues, other things that just make it impossible this trip). While I'm definitely a Disney girl at heart, I'm looking forward to checking Universal and RPR out. I'm hoping you all can help me with a couple of issues:

At RPR, what should I request for my room selection? Am I right that all rooms of the same category (2 doubles for example) are the same price regardless of the view, or have I mis-read something? Because of the way this seminar is being booked, I think I need to make all my requests at the time of booking, which will be in the next couple of days, so I'd love any input.

Also, while I think it can be fun to be one my own this one time, I'm not sure that Universal will have enough for me to do for a 3 night trip by myself. Of course, I'll be in the seminar for portions of days, but will have a good bit of touring time. Should I plan to just do the Universal parks (there are 2, right?), or should I plan on something else? We're heading back to Disney in May and were just there last May, so I think I can live without the usual parks this time, but was thinking of doing DTD as I've never been there.

Sorry to be so random in my questions! Any thoughts would be appreciated very much!

I went to Universal with my sister that was in conferences, for five days. I mostly did the parks alone, she did the first full day and the a couple hours on two other days. She missed a lot and I think if she could have done more time in the park it would have been better. Because I had the whole five days....it was more than enough time for me. So, to answer your question, I think three days may work fine for you, or you may actually want to add one more day if you really are only able to do a few hours here or there.

We're doing our first trip to RPR in Dec and the price was different depending on view. I splurged for water view with a king. I've also adjusted the price more than once. First it was AAA at $210 a night then AP rate at $189 now it's AP rate at $159 I believe. It pays to keep checking discounts. However, the thing you're going to might have special rates for that time.

You will have plenty to do at Universal for 3 days.... Not sure what time your seminar runs till, but the parks will most likely close early (assuming we're not talking about Easter-time here??)...so, by the time you finish your "work" for the day, and the parks close early, 3 days might just be enough for you to really explore ;)

As for rooms, there are king and standard (double queens). If you want a close walk to the parks, request Tower 1... They accomodate pets in Tower 2, so, I'd probably stay away from there. I believe Tower 3 is closest to the boat.... You can always request top floor w/ view of the park in Tower 1... I believe rooms 1733, 1729, etc. (odds) have great views (we stayed 1729 last year and it was a great view of Hulk and IOA and if you looked down, you could see waterway!

Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts! Thanks also to Bubba's mom - that's exactly what I was hoping to find out about room requests! If anyone has any more info, I'd love to hear it.
