Does anyone know the size dimensions of the safe in the room? Trying to decide if it would be something we'd be able to use.

Do they have mini refigerators available for rent and if so, how much are they? Or are you able to have them remove the items from the mini bar so you can use that instead?
I like to have a frig for cold drinks and also to possibly store some food items.

We are planning on going May 2013 and if we call now to book, would it be at rack rate or would they possibly have AAA discount available?

Thanks in advance.

The dis is tear-your-hair-out slow this afternoon. This is the second time I've tried to reply to you.

Here's a picture of the safe in an RPR room. I used it for my iPad 2. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture with my iPad IN the safe, so you can't really tell how big the safe is. It almost looks like a walk-in closet in this picture.

Yes you can rent a mini-fridge. It's like the smallest, most basic dorm fridge you can get, with a tiny freezer compartment. The charge is somewhere between 10 and 20 dollars per day.

The safe is small. You have to stand your laptop on an end for it to fit.

from the website:

Microwaves & Refrigerators
The fee for a Microwaves and Refrigerators are $15 each per day, plus 12.5% sales tax. Available on a first come, first served basis. Only one Microwave and Refrigerator is allowed per room and are available through Star Service Hotline.

i used the wall safe for my Ipad, plenty of room for other items in there also.

not a good thing to remove the items in the mini bar and put your stuff in it.
they are checked daily by staff.
if anything is missing, you incur a charge for those items.
you can refuse the bar key when you check in.

you can book at rack and change to AAA when it is available.
check with AAA and see when they will have the rates available for your dates.

the mini bar will not keep your items cold but cool.

As a pp said, don't touch the mini bar! The prices are insane, if something is moved I believe they automatically "think" it's been used and it could be a huge pain to get the charge off your room total.

The best advice we received was to bring a cheap cooler for ice and just use that.

If you are only there for a day or two it's probably not worth it (or renting the fridge for that matter) Soda from the gift shop would be cheaper.

Thank you so much for the replies. I'll definitely refuse the bar key when we check in. We're planning on staying 4 nights so I'll probably pay the extra to rent a frig.
From the picture it looks like a small laptop may fit. Guess I can try it and see. Otherwise we'll just put it away in a drawer so at least it's not left out in the open.
Thanks for the advice on booking also. I'll book the room and then keep an eye out for the AAA rate. Maybe even contact AAA and see what they can get and then just go with the better deal.
Can't wait to finally go back. It's been a long 11 years.

If you can a cheap cooler would be best. As for the laptop, we always just put into one of the drawers. Just make sure it's password protected as most people do. We have never had a problem with any of our stays leaving it out or in a drawer. The only thing we use the safe for is, extra money, iPhones, car keys, and iPad.:thumbsup2

When we got the fridge, medical for baby so no charge, they set it up on a table next to the TV area. This did take up a lot of space over in that area. But the table helped as an additional storage area for the bottles/cereal/etc we had brought.

Wow...I have to admit, it never occurred to me that the room wouldn't have a fridge for guest use!! I'm glad I saw this thread.

Since it's an expensive 'four-star' hotel, I just assumed there would be a refrigerator.

I guess instead of a fridge, they spent the money on having $100 Keurig coffee machines with unlimited K-cups...and some people have talked about using 15+ a day! Since my wife and I both drink coffee, I guess I shouldn't complain too much...:)

It always seems like the more expensive the hotel, the fewer the basic amenities like a fridge.
