Hello, have just been on the universal website and have read about the kiddies room in the Island dining room.
Anyway thilled that they class kids up to 12:thumbsup2 as our girls are picky eaters and eat small portions.
Anyway the food on offer sounds right up there street and the fact they have there own little area sounds cool.
My question is can we just take the girls in there to eat or do we have to eat in the restaurant as well?
Any info and pics would be cool.
Many thanks

I don't see why they couldn't just eat. I don't remember seeing anything about kids meals must include an adult meal. We really enjoyed the resturant and the kids LOVED the kids seating area and TV. Its not real huge so the earlier the better. The longer we were there it started to fill up and there wasn't much room for kids coming in when we left.

It's not really a "kids resturant", rather they have a buffet with kids food (low tables) set up in one room. Islands has the resturant divided into several rooms. We sat in the main dining room. We just walked our dd to the buffet to get her food. The kids "dining room" is not a room where kids only eat. There are a few tables there, so a family might sit there if they like.
The food was good, my dd enjoyed it.

Having your kids eat there but you not, would be akin to going into any resturant and lettin the kids eat off the kids menu while you did not eat. I guess you could do it, but it seems like extra work. Plus, isn't it nice to eat together as a family while on vacation......

Hi Kimberle,
Thanks for your reply.
I wasn't aware that we could eat in the childrens part of the restaurant but thanks to your reply I now know.
My concern was that I knew the girls would prefer to eat in there as they are such picky eaters but I wasn't sure wether it was like an early tea which in some U.K. hotels they do, and the adults are not able to eat but they sit with them , sorry I should have worded it correctly.and I feel awful how it came across.
My family live for our holidays together and we do eat as a family even at home.( I feel like the worlds worst mother now for posting)
Anyway Thanks for your reply, ( I'm nice honest)

Thanks dpuck for your reply.
It sounds like the Island restaurant can cater for everyones taste, and we will definately be trying it out.
When you say early how early do you mean, I know where on holiday but my girls are generally in bed and asleep by 8.30 so they will be pushing the boat out if they see 10:goodvibes

More info on dining at the Islands Dining Room, just click on hotels as it won't let me link directly! Although having reread the nightly entertainment not too sure how long the kids buffet will be open for if there are character meals there for about 4 nights of the week, it doesn't make it too clear.

You're welcome!

Very few resturants have what the English call "tea". We found dining at US was very casual. Resturants generally started serving dinner at 5:30pm. (Lunch is usually 11am - 2pm). There are a few that serve straight through and don't close. They are mainly the burger/salad type casual places.

You'll find most American kids eat Macaroni & Cheese, pizza, burgers, grilled cheese, chicken nugets, and peanut butter and jelly. These are fairly "staple" on the kids menus at most resturants (give or take a few).

My dh & I found the dinners at Islands pretty good.

Enjoy your trip and hope your kids find foods they enjoy!
