This will be a short report on our (myself and DS16) recent visit to RPR.
Sunday, July 20th
Checked in about 11:00 a.m. I went into the Loews First line as I am Loews Gold. I had a standard room reserved at the Entertainment Rate of $110. I had a postcard which offered me a free upgrade to a suite, if available. I was told I could not receive the upgrade because I had an Entertainment Rate. I asked about Club Level and was told I would have to pay rack rate for Club Level. I was offered an upgrade to a waterview room for $35, but declined that because I could have booked that at an Entertainment Rate of $125 - why would I want to pay $145 for it?
Our room was not ready, but they gave us room keys for FOTL at the parks and a number to call later in the date to see if our room was ready. Once the room is ready, they tell you the room number and you are all set - no need to go back to the Front Desk.
As a Loews Gold member, I requested a bottle of wine, which was waiting for me when I got to the room (by the way, room was ready at exactly 4:00 p.m. - not a moment before).
We were in room 1533 and had a perfect view of The Hulk, Dr. Doom and the nightly fireworks. It was the last room at the end of the hall. It was not a bad walk from the elevators - nothing like our room at Portofino Bay last year - that was the longest walk to a hotel room ever!
We stayed three nights at RPR and enjoyed it very much. I have stayed at all three Universal hotels and I would definitely stay here again. The staff was extremely friendly and I enjoyed the tropical atmosphere very much.
My son and I had dinner at Tschoup Chop on Tuesday night. The restaurant is beautiful and our dinners were delicious.
It was VERY, VERY HOT AND HUMID. Parks were crowded, but, of course, we had FOTL - without FOTL, it would have been intolerable.
Checked out on July 23rd. We had self-parked and only had one bag each, so we didn't use a bellhop.
All in all, a great trip.
