This will be a short report on our (myself and DS16) recent visit to RPR.

Sunday, July 20th

Checked in about 11:00 a.m. I went into the Loews First line as I am Loews Gold. I had a standard room reserved at the Entertainment Rate of $110. I had a postcard which offered me a free upgrade to a suite, if available. I was told I could not receive the upgrade because I had an Entertainment Rate. I asked about Club Level and was told I would have to pay rack rate for Club Level. I was offered an upgrade to a waterview room for $35, but declined that because I could have booked that at an Entertainment Rate of $125 - why would I want to pay $145 for it?

Our room was not ready, but they gave us room keys for FOTL at the parks and a number to call later in the date to see if our room was ready. Once the room is ready, they tell you the room number and you are all set - no need to go back to the Front Desk.

As a Loews Gold member, I requested a bottle of wine, which was waiting for me when I got to the room (by the way, room was ready at exactly 4:00 p.m. - not a moment before).

We were in room 1533 and had a perfect view of The Hulk, Dr. Doom and the nightly fireworks. It was the last room at the end of the hall. It was not a bad walk from the elevators - nothing like our room at Portofino Bay last year - that was the longest walk to a hotel room ever!

We stayed three nights at RPR and enjoyed it very much. I have stayed at all three Universal hotels and I would definitely stay here again. The staff was extremely friendly and I enjoyed the tropical atmosphere very much.

My son and I had dinner at Tschoup Chop on Tuesday night. The restaurant is beautiful and our dinners were delicious.

It was VERY, VERY HOT AND HUMID. Parks were crowded, but, of course, we had FOTL - without FOTL, it would have been intolerable.

Checked out on July 23rd. We had self-parked and only had one bag each, so we didn't use a bellhop.

All in all, a great trip.

Sounds like you and your son had a wonderful trip! I really enjoyed the RPR also, the staff is just so friendly and the atmosphere of this resort is comfortable and warm.

It looks like they are finally cracking down on benefits offered (upgrades) using the ER. I figured that was why they revised the loews first plan.

How was the wine? We always get the milk and cookies and next time I want the wine!

Glad you had a nice trip.:)

Jessica:

I received a very nice bottle of Chardonnay and enjoyed a glass each night while I was watching the fireworks.

I really wasn't expecting to be able to use the postcard for an upgrade to a suite - I knew I had a good rate and I also read the fine print!!

My son and I joined my cousin, her mother and her children while we were in Orlando. We were supposed to go earlier in the month, but my husband's father is quite ill and we canceled our trip the day before we were supposed leave. We were originally staying at Disney's Boardwalk Inn and then Portofino Bay. My cousin invited us to join them (they were driving) and we thought that was a good solution. We all had a good time and it was nice to get away. Our accomodations changed as a result of the new trip and I was pleasantly surprised with the RPR. I will stay there again. However, I didn't really like staying offsite at Disney. I had not done that before and probably wouldn't do it again. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the same as staying onsite.

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!!!
