We are traveling to Orlando on Friday 7/12/13 but our flight doesn't get in until 1am on Sat morning. We are doing park 2 park 2 day pass and we are staying at RPR on Sat night 7/13. We are wondering where to stay when we land.

Should we stay at an offsite hotel since we won't be there until 2am and then go check-in at RPR on Sat and hit the parks. Or should we just do two nights at RPR and not think about the money we are spending not being there until half way through the night. LOL! We are traveling with two teenage boys who will be ready for the parks Sat morn.

Seasoned veterans, your thoughts? :yay:

After a few trips of staying one place because we're getting in late, we're over that. It's worth some money to wake up where you will be, and to not have to wake super-early, move everything, and go check in somewhere else. It's worth money to not have to stash bags with Bell Services somewhere until we have access to the room.

For us, it's worth it to just stay put.

We got to MCO on our last trip after midnight, and by the time we got to PO Riverside it was well after 1am, and when we woke up the next morning with nothing but getting coffee and food on our minds, that money was WELL worth it.

That's our opinion, now. Wasn't our original opinion.

the money is worth it and well spent to stay both nights at the onsite hotel.

it will be very convenient for everyone in your family.

your room will be ready and all you will have to do is go to bed.

the sons can head out early that morning for the park.
you can catch a few extra winks if need be.

sometimes the priority is more than money.

I'm not seasoned, but I say stay in one place. You'll appreciate the convenience. At 1 or 2 a.m. you're not going to be thinking about price, you're going to be thinking about where you can go to sleep the fastest! Esp. if you plan on getting up to do the parks that morning.

We just went through the same decision for next month. Our plans changed so we will be arriving on a Saturday night instead of Sunday, so do we add on another night at RPR or find somewhere nearby for half the cost. We decided to add another night, even though it costs more, for convenience. Will get our tickets that night, won't need to jump around as much (already staying with relatives that Friday and moving over to Disney on the Monday). Plus this way we'll get the extra hour at Harry Potter both days if we want it.

Thank you everyone for the responses! I showed my hubby my 'research' and we are staying both nights! Yay! :woohoo:

one thing you need to do is to call the hotel and tell them the time your flight will come in.

make sure they have it in your ressie notes.

and call them again on the 11th so you know it is in the ressie notes for an after midnight check in.

if your flight is delayed and you will be much later for your hotel check in,
call the hotel.
let them know you will be there but later than planed due to transportation delays.

if it is not in the hotel ressie notes, they might think you are going to be a no show and release your room.

you won't believe the number of people that book and pay a one night deposit and don't show up....

Wow. I was totally sold on booking a cheap motel for our first (late) night in town and then moving to Universal. You've got me rethinking it! Ugh, decisions, decisions. We're doing APs, so if the parks were open a bit later in August we might be able to get into town early enough to actually hit a park once we arrive - but I think that won't be possible. It sure WOULD be nice to not have to get up, head out, and check in that first full day.

One question - are you more likely to get a desirable room location if you check in early in the day, versus 9 at night? I know it works that way at some hotels, but not sure about Universal's on site hotels.
