So, I placed a call to RPR today to ask if there were any better/lower/new rates for my stay from 2/8 to 2/12.

The rep said "no", that the best rate is the one I have (APH) and that it wouldn't make a difference in any case since RPR is complete sold out for that time period :scared1:

I was so surprised by this since I thought I had chosen one of the absolutely slowest weeks of the year. She mentioned that there may be groups or a convention that filled the resort. I asked if there was a way to know what groups or convention and she said "no".

So, I'm really glad I got in my ressie when I did! Has this been a trend now, with the resorts booking totally full?

Amazing.

My wife is at RPH this very moment attending the National Potato Council annual meeting. Several hundred people are attending - that many people suck up a lot of rooms. Some such meeting is probably scheduled for your week.

She did get a pretty good benefit - tonight the group is at HP for a private party. They get the run of the place minus the crowds.

RPH has many conventions going on, all the time.
the hotel may be full but it doesn't effect the parks.

last october i stayed on site for 8 nights.
the first 2 nights there, the hotel did not have crowds.

on my third day there, i was in the lobby visiting with peeps.
the line was wwaaaayyy long at the check in lobby.

i asked the manager about this.
he said that 800 peeps were checking in for one of the conventions....
and another convention group was coming in the next day.

i'm glad you made your ressie early Perv!

Wow! That's a GREAT benefit. Now, how do I find out if that might happen during my stay. If there might be a part of the parks to be shut down for a private event, would it be listed somewhere? Maybe I avoid that park that day/evening....

I am too!! I cannot imagine how disappointed I'd have been to hear that the hotel was full. And, on a side note, I also asked the reservation person about the other 2 hotels and she said they were full also.... Jeepers...

Thanks Mac! ;)

Just keep checking the website. They are showing some occupancy for all three hotels at that time.

As you get closer to your date, there will probably be more cancellations.

Update: just spoke to my wife - there are 1500 attendees at her conference, and I imagine a majority of them are staying at RPH due to the reduced rate they receive (I want to say it was $159 a night, but not sure of that). Lots of families made the trip.

She also said the HP event was terrific, except that not all the shops were open. She walked onto FJ twice and did Olivander's without much of a wait. HP at night must be pretty cool - I'll see what pics she took and try to post some after she gets back.

You must have made your reservations before I did (mid November), because when I made them, the APH rate for RPR was MORE than for PBR! Well, that's b/c all the lower rate rooms were sold out, so they were starting at the higher levels of rooms, but still, higher rates.

bumble, the ap rates usually are higher than other promos when they first come out.

then, the ap will drop to become a great room rate.

you just have to keep checking to have your ressie modified.

i got the 9-12 for the following booked 1-6-12

9th 144
10th 179
11th 179

i wanted the 7th thru 12 but these rates were not available so i booked what i could and will book 7-9 at hard rock for 199 a night then switch to rp on the 9th

Oh yeah, I've been checking nearly every day. :) I have been using that page that you can check all three at once. And I run through APH and no promo, just to see what's going on.

Two days ago, suddenly there were no garden queens at PBR at all on the APH rate, but then yesterday they appeared again. Same rate as we got, keep hoping it would come down more (we actually *want* PBR but if RPR had been at some "steal" rate it would have been something to talk about), but with everything so full, it seems unlikely. :)

I'm also looking at coming in a little later than the OP, but when I first started looking, I was looking all through Feb, to plan when the best time was, and I couldn't get a thing for the OP's first few days, at RPR.

I keep checking too! I also do find that there are some rack rate higher level rooms available in all three hotels but no APH or SMSM rates for the standard rooms at all.

Bumbershoot, I did book my room very early (last summer) at rack, then switched to SMSM rate, then to AP rate... the AP actually won't save me anything but won't cost me any more either....

I want to know what conference will be going on when I'm there. Any ideas as to how I can find out? Maybe calling the hotel directly will work.

In any case, I'll be able to find out when I'm there!! :cool1:
