We are staying at RPR and going to enjoy Universal for the first time in April. :woohoo: Just made the reservation today, and didn't have a clue :confused3 as to what to ask for in regards to room preference. I usually have it down to a science for Disney! Any advice as to where to stay? Tower? Floor? DD is 10, and wants to spend lots of time in Islands of Adventure (HP of course!), and also in the pool. Any recommendations?

did you book standard room or room with pool/park view?
usually the room with a view does cost a bit more than the basic standard, garden view.

i stay at rph and request T3.
T1 is my second choice and also has good water canal/pool//park views.

quite a few of the trees have grown and not all upper floors have a full view when looking out the window.

I have the same question concerning the standard view catagory rooms. Family of five. I would prefer not to look at the highway. We are also park and pool people.

at rph you will have the choice of booking:
standard view
lagoon pool or waterway if you select water view.

can't help but get park view in many of the rooms, even at standard.

if all the pool/park/water lagoon/canal are full, your standard room could be of the highway or another type of view.

the dates i used had the 2Q water view at $259
same dates, same room type but standard view was at $229

if you must have a water/park view, don't book standard view.
you can also call and have a note on your ressie of your room preference.
if the pool view is available, you might get it without paying for it.

check out the Loews YouFirst free loyalty program and read about the upgrades.

Thank you macraven! We did book a standard room. How many floors are there in each tower, and how high can you get a standard room?

7 floors for all the 3 towers with T3 having club lounge on that floor.

all towers/rooms have standard rooms available.

Thanks again!!!

Ok, I am learning! I signed up for Loews' YouFirst program. I canceled the package I booked yesterday. I am just going to book the room on my own, probably on the Loews site. I also plan to order the tickets, looks like UndercoverTourist is a great way to save money. I do have AAA, but I will be staying during Easter, before we head for our cruise. Now I am wondering if I should look into the annual pass??? We will be staying at RPR from Apr 17-21. I can't figure out where to look up the discounted rate (if it would even be available over Easter) for APH...

click on promo
and list APH when you try to check your dates online.

if the ap rates are available, you will see it.

easier to call the UO ressie number and ask them if there are any dates with the ap for your time period.
and ask them what discounts are available for your trip time.

Smart move!!!

Make sure there is an APH rate before you buy that annual pass. Cheap rates during peak times are rare.

To check for them use the code APH on the Loews site. If nothing comes up they aren't available during that time. APH rates have been posted through May, so if they don't come up, they are not available.

I've done it for you here and there are no APH rates ... http://www.loewshotels.com/en/booki...21/2014&rooms=1&sr=p&code=aph&iata=&na=1&nk=0

Thank you macraven and damo! I really appreciate all your help and advice. I will pass on the AP...for now...:thumbsup2
