OK... here goes...

Day 1 - 7/14 - Monday

Arrived at the RPR at 4pm. We chose to self-park for $6/day rather than valet for $12/day. 1st Bellguy put the bags on his cart and walked the rest of us to check in while my husband, aka "the Lt" parked the car. 1st Bellguy told us about the hotel while we walked about a block to check in. Tipped him $10. A guy named Spencer checked us in. I had reserved a non-smoking room with 2 beds on a high floor (allergy concerns) at the entertainment rate of $110. I presented my Loews blue card as well as the entertainment card, and asked if any upgrades were available. Spencer called his supervisor, then told me that since we reserved at the entmnt rate, we would have to pay full rack rate if we wanted an upgrade. No thanks, Spence, but could you give us a room with a view of the fireworks? He told us we were in 1719. Great!!! Perfect!!! Now for the rest....Grade A Kids Gift...yep...and he even made copies of the report cards...both daughters got pails and shovels, seashell necklaces, and coupons for free sodas and ice cream sundaes...Loews First Gift...yep... milk and cookies and the daily newspaper...Turndown Service...yep...Spence had to check on this one, he didn't know what it was...and finally Allergy Free Pillows...yep...no problem. The Lt joined us at this point and Spence called 2nd Bellguy to bring us to the room.

Another $10 for 2nd Bellguy and we found 1719 to be perfect. A ways from the elevators, but primo for the fireworks. We (or really me) got everyone unpacked and we set out for the water taxi to the parks. We got to USO at 6:00 and debated whether to wait until the next day to start day 1 of our 5-consecutive-day tickets (got a really good deal online for them). The girls looked shocked that we would come all this way only to make them wait until the next morning...the Lt said day shmay... lets go...we were off to USO.

The Lt, our daughters, ages 11 and 7 aka "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" respectively, then began to go on as many attractions as humanly possible in 3 hours. Due to health concerns, I did not ride many rides, but enjoyed seeing their faces when they came off the rides. The wait times were not bad at all, but would never give up front of the line access for anything.
We grabbed hotdogs and pretzels for dinner and watched the 9:50 fireworks. Took the water taxi back to the RPR. The milk and cookies were waiting for us in the room, but no turn down service. Oh well. All in all a great start to a great vacation.

I don't know if it's okay to ask a question about a trip report on this board, but here it goes: Why did your allergy concerns prompt you to ask for a room on a higher floor? My son has allergies so I am curious. I am a little concerned that they allow pets in the hotel. The idea of using pillows that somebody's cat or dog might have been on does kind of bother me. What does the higher floor have to do with this?? I also need to compile a list of preferred room locations to ask for. I'd love a firework room since we never stay late enough in the park to see them. Thanks! :D

My son is allergic to dander....... So, I called the hotel directly and they DO allow pets on the first 3 floors of the hotel....... therefore, the higher up rooms should be better suited to someone with an allergy, as no pets are allowed beyond the 3rd floors. :jester:

cindywhitall...

ask all the questions you want...i'm happy to help out other disers...there was a recent thread about which room numbers got what view...if i can find it i will post a link for you.

wendypooh is exactly right. the higher floors should be pet free. I was so worried about Thing 2's allergies that I called the hotel 3 times before we got there to make sure we were on a high floor.

I'll try to post the rest of the report later. Hope I''m not boring everyone.

We have the same allergy issues with my asthmatic son. We have stayed at all 3 on-site proprties and have never had a problem with requests for a non-animal floor.

pagemaker,

I'm enjoying your trip report very much and would love for you to continue. :) Thing1 and Thing2, now thats cute! Did you get over to the shop at Seuss Landing next to Cat in the Hat? They have a great photo op in the back of the store and the kids can dress as Thing1 & 2 or Cat in the Hat.

pagemaker...... I also enjoy the reports. If you could please list prices on where you ate, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!:bounce: :jester: :Pinkbounc :jester: :bounce: :jester: :Pinkbounc
