I've finally decided on our vacation plans. 2 nights at AKL and 4 nights at RPH or PBH. I am wondering which hotel will be best for our family (re: pools, restaurants, convenient location to the parks, etc.) DD 12, DS 8 and my hubby and I.

For all who have stayed there, is PBH worth the extra $$?

Also, I have read about the Entertainment rates. Do they offer these rates on the stay 4 play free package?

I'm booking my ressies this weekend, so any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone. :)

RPR is more convenient to the parks. It's an easy walk from there. The PBH is walkable, but it's a long walk. All the hotels have the water taxi service. Entertainment Rates don't seem to be available this year, and wouldn't apply to a package anyway. We have stayed at the Hard Rock and the Royal Pacific and have visited the PBH. I think children would like the atmosphere at the HRH or the RPR better than the more sedate atmosphere at the PBH. Of course, everyone is different and you know your own children best.

We have stayed at both. Decided last trip to try to save $ by going to the Royal Pacific. We could not have been more pleased. The room was so nice- not budgety. The hotel itself is lovely. Good pool and the boat is a quick ride to the parks.
The Portofino is very nice. The rooms are larger and the pool is actually pretty nice. But I think if we go back we will probably go to the Royal Pacific just because we did not feel like we were cheaping out. No comparison to the difference in the Disney hotels. This one is minor.- really just a smaller room but we had three children in there and we were fine.
One more thing be sure to join the Lowes club at their website. It is free to join and you get perks for your visit(like free cookies and milk or champagne and cheese) And you earn points for your stay. Have a great time. We love these hotels and the benefits they offer are great- that no line thing is unbelievable.

We have stayed at both resorts. PBH rooms are bigger and the bathroom is huge. Love it! Upscale and beautiful. 3 minute boat ride to the parks.

RPH has nice rooms, but smaller in size. The pool is better suited for children with the water play area.

Both are great hotels!

Well, our choice kinda got made for us. The stay 4, play free package was no longer available at RPH, so went with PBH. I hope this will work for us. I was really wanting the e-z walk to the parks... but. I think the kids will enjoy the pool there and we love Italian food.
How long is the commute to the parks from PBH?

One of our favorite restaurants when we were there was Mama Leonis(I think that is the name it was the small one on the first floor.) It had delicious food. So good that we ate there three times during our stay. They went out of their way to keep the kids happy also and it was not technically a kid place. But we felt totally at ease.

Mama Della's is the name of the restaurant at PBH. You will have a nice water taxi ride to Citywalk from PBH. It's about a 5 minute ride. The beach pool at PBH is great. My kids love the slide there. It's a beautiful hotel and I am sure you will love it.
