Royal Rooms at Riverside

Thanks so much. Now I know which to ask for.

Just a note, if you book a Royal Room, you will get one those buildings...but you need to book and pay for the Royal Room, it's costs extra...if you don't book an RR, you will be placed elsewhere.

OKay , a really a dumb question because we have stayed here quite a few times but what is a royal room ?
What kind of differences are there ?

They are definitely a separate room category that cost more than regular rooms. They have different views within the royal room category, too. I think there are garden views, water views, and river views, in that order of cost. There may even be a standard view that is lower than garden. They just try and eek out as much money as they can with their different view categories, don't they?

Years ago, you could stay at a moderate for around $80 to $90 a night. It's amazing to me what they now charge for a value resort!:scared1:

You cannot request a royal room; you book a royal room and are guaranteed to be in either Oak Manor or Parterre Place.

You can request a view or location, but you cannot request a royal room.

We have kinda done it to ourselves; we request views/locations that are important to us and over the years, I am sure Disney has been "trending" those options. We are going to pay it, since we really wanted it anyway.

The idea with the upgraded rooms, I noticed first at CBR, with the pirate rooms. For an architect like myself, it didn't take long to realize they chose buildings that are the most remote location from the main building. How ingenious.

I also noticed it with POR; while I think Oak Manor is fairly close to everything, Parterre Place has some of the most remote rooms to the main building in the entire layout. Thus, build it and they will come; someone in the most remote room in Parterre Place will be thrilled they are in the royal room. Again, truly ingenious marketing on their part.
