Royal Plaza

Hi:
We're thinking about staying at the remodeled Royal Plaza in a double in the Lanai area for a few days before we check in to OKW. We have stayed here before, but that was in the Tower and that was before the remodel. So, I was wondering if anyone has stayed in the Lanai area since the remodel and what they thought. Any thoughts and comments would be great.

Tigger...hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread. I was just about to post a question regarding the Royal Plaza. DH are contemplating booking a tower room for a weekend get-away in August. But....I wanted more info regarding this resort. Is it a nice place to stay? Which rooms are best? Can you walk to PI?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

We stayed 2 nights in a Lanai room in June. (The Lanai is the ground floor area with either a pool view or parking lot. We had parking lot which was convenient because it has slider doors and we parked right at our door and unloaded.) We had a mousesaver's rate ($99) with free breakfast. The rooms were nice, but we stayed here at the end of our 9 night trip. The first 7 days were at a pool house so the room seemed small with 3 kids after having a whole house to lounge in before. But they were nice and clean. We never made it to the pool area, so can't tell you about that, but the breakfast buffet was good. I guess you could walk to Downtown Disney and PI as it is sidewalks all the way, but it would be a LONG walk as this is one of the farther ones from DD. I would stay here again, especially if I got that good rate again. Hope that helps.

DH and just booked a deluxe tower room for $79/night! We have never stayed off-site before, so this will be a big change for us. But, it is a spur-of-the-moment trip, so we are just happy to be going down!!! So the walk to PI is long, huh? O well....we will still have a blast!

Any more opinions of this resort out there?

Thank you for the info WVMomof3. This is the first chance I've had to check my e-mails since last Friday so it was great to see a reply to my inquiry. We have done the walk to DD from the RP and we enjoyed it, but it was just DH and I and we love to walk. When it's with children, it definitely can seem longer and they tire quickly so it makes a difference if it's just adults or with children. Again, thanks so much for the info - we booked with the Mousesavers rate with the free upgrade.
