Royal Plaza Hotel @ DTD

Travelzoo.com has deals for this hotel..... free upgrade to tower room and resort fee waived.... we decided on the King Executive Tower Suite for Finace, myself and disabled DD. Hoping for DTD views! It's only for one night then we're off to AKL.... and Summerfield Suites Orlando. :O)

Have you ever stayed there before? I was just there in a Deluxe Tower room last month and it was wonderful! Beautiful room, huge bathroom! My room was on the second floor in the tower so I overlooked the pool but if you are high enough you might be able to see DTD.

The best part is I booked at 50.00 a night for a standard room and got bumped to a Deluxe.

Princess Michelle....how did you get bumped up to a better room? We are leaving in 11 for HRP and booked a cheap room. Travelzoo has offers out there, but I can't get all the days I need. I was thinking about asking for a complimentary upgrade once I get there, but don't know if they will go for it. How'd you get yours???

Deb, I think I just got lucky. When I opened the door to my room my jaw just kind of dropped in shock, good shock. LOL

I don't know if it had anything to do with it but I did make a few requests when I booked. I asked for a non-smoking room and I asked them for a room on an upper level because I was travelling alone and would feel safer if I were not on the ground floor. I also checked in a couple of hours early. I don't know that any of those things helped me get the upgrade or if I just got lucky but I certainly did enjoy it.

Did you make your reservations directly with the hotel to get the $50 rate? Sounds like a great deal! Our next trip is in May, so it's a bit early to be looking for great discounts like this, but I'd love to stay at this property for the convenience of being on WDW property and within walking distance of DD. BTW....did you walk to DD and how long did it take? The only other Hotel Blvd property I have stayed in is the Grosvenor and it was just a walk across the street! We loved staying there.

I would like to know about getting the $50 rate as well. If I can get that , I would pass on $69 rate at Travelzoo.com. Also, what time is check-in and would they hold your luggage if you come early and want to go to the parks?

I don't think the $50.00 rate is around anymore. I got it through Mousesavers.com but it was in August.

I didn't ever walk to DTD but I don't think it would take very long at all to walk there. Maybe 10 minutes or so? HRP is further down on Hotel Plaza Boulevard than Grosvenor so add about 5 minutes to however long it took you to walk from there. When I stayed at Wyndham Palace pretty much all you had to do is cross the street and you were there. LOL I really like the DTD location.

I believe check in was the standard 4pm. I got there a little after two and my room was ready so I don't know about the luggage.

I just booked this hotel online with the $69 deluxe tower room. We're staying 4 nights and the 4 night was free. I booked this online, however, and it never asked for only one night deposit. So I just went ahead and paid for the whole stay which came to $230 including taxes. I'm going to call tomorrow to make sure that the reservation is in their system and if there's any other fees, like that $7/day fee, that I'll have to pay when I arrive.

I've never been there, but the resort looks nice enough from the photos online and the reviews at tripadvisor.com seem pretty decent.

I went and saw Princess Michelle's room when she was staying there. I liked it so much, I moved over to the HRP (from the Renaissance Worldgate in Kissimmee - hated that place).

There was a special Mousesaver deal going on at that time. I was able to get my room for $55./nite (the deal is no longer in effect).

I did not receive an upgrade, but I had a beautiful room. My room was larger than the room I had at the Poly. The bathroom is huge. There is a standing balcony, which has a lovely sitting area right in front of it with a love seat and two chairs.

If you can get the travelzoo rate of $69., go for it. It is a bargain and you get a Tower Room, plus the $7./day resort fee is waived.

Changed our ressie today to take advantage of the Travelzoo $69 special with the free upgrade & 4th night free. Changed due to the favorable feedback on this website and mousesavers.com. Staying near the end of November. We are very anxious and any other comments about the RP would be great.

Thanks to those of you who posted the information about the Travelzoo special. Just book four nights at the HRP at $69 per night, with 4th night free. Comes to $51.75 per night, resort fee waived. Have stayed in the HRP before, and it is a pretty nice place.

This will make a nice quick jaunt down to see the Christmas decorations.
