We are considering going to this place for our beach day. It looks nice and clean plus it is close to port. They even have "cabanas" for $100, which include 4 chairs, table, and 4 lounge chairs.

Any reviews or comments.

Thanks

I too am leaning towards this option. It appears nicer than the Tiki beach day DCL offers and you could have your own cabana for about the same price as the normal excursion. It's close enough you can see the cruise ships anchored so cab fare should be reasonable. The things I've learned you need to know is 1) You can reserve a cabana 6 months ahead of time through Royal Palms website 2) No kids are allowed in the pool/swim up bar 3) The prices are in cayman dollars so food/drink etc.... can be expensive.

Also I should add we will be there on June 14th 2016 off the Fantasy and I am pricing out a private transfer to Royal Palms through Majestic Tours. I was quoted $178 for a van that seats up to 9 people. We have 6 in our party so if a party of 3 is out there we could do the transfer for about $20 pp round trip in a private van with seat belts(we are bringing car seats). I'm sure Taxi is cheaper but have been told many cabs don't have seat belts.

JP350Z thanks for info.

I did not know about possible lack of seat belts in cabs. We are going to be there in July 2016 via the Fantasy. I have also heard that the cabana rental requires a minimum food/drink purchase of $50. I have not verified this, nor did I see it on the website.

They have 2 types of Cabanas. The poolside Cabanas (adults only) are free if you spend the $50 minimum. The beach Cabanas are $100 but do not require a minimum purchase is what i have researched.

I see. Either way, I am OK with it. I have the feeling that we will be spending enough time that it would not be difficult to spend $50+ on drinks/food. Do you know where I can do the currency exchange?

We rented a private cabana on the beach in March. We used a credit card to pay. Food and drinks were very good. The beach was great. We were glad we had the cabana as it was pretty crowded due to spring break. We were able to arrive at our own pace without worrying about whether or not we could get chairs when we arrived.

Thanks oceuponadream.
That sounds exactly what we are looking for.

we got a cabana in April. It's $100 with table/4 chairs and then 4 loungers in front. You email and give CC and then they charge it upon arrival. They have your name on a list. I thought it was worth it. There is no need to buy food/drinks if you don't want to. They also have cabanas surrouding an adults only pool with curved booth type seating. Those are the ones with $50 minimum purchase. You can also just rent umbrella/chairs closer to the beach, but if you have 6 persons, it's not that much more to just get the cabana. RP has a very nice beach. We always go here when we cruise to GC. If you are going at a peak time, a cabana is good to not be in the crowded section--we were there Easter week with 5 ships in port.
We have always just walked out from the port and taken one of the many minibuses going straight to RP with cruise passegers for $3-4PP each way. They are many waiting for returning to the ship as well. The minibuses might have seatbelts--it's a short drive and they don't go very fast--not that an accident couldn't happen. I bought a travel vest portable car seat thing when my kids were younger (but then never used it). $200 is VERY high for a transfer to RP--I have walked it before on a fitness walk. It's not even 5 miles, I bet. I would be much more concerned in Cozumel with car safety.
