What kind of transportation to the parks is there? Is it possible to get to the parks early then back for a swim at around 12pm then back out for dinner? Is there a pool bar/snack bar in the pool area? What kind of food do they have and prices?

You can walk to the parks (about 10 minute walk), take the water taxi or take a shuttle bus. We usually walk, but if the water taxi is there when we're walking by, we save the steps. It is very convenient to get back and forth to the parks from all three of the Universal on-site hotels. The shortest walk is from the Hard Rock Hotel. The longest walk is from Portifino Bay (about 15 minutes or so).

All very easy. There is a snack bar, but I've not eaten there so I can't comment on the food or prices.

We usually go from RPR to the parks 2-3 times per day. No sweat. Could not be easier. If you are used to the issues getting from parks to resort over at the Mouse, you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Here is an example of one of my days at RPR from my August trip. Walked over to RPR with DS to ride front row of Hulk--got there to open park since you do not get front row with FOTL. Rode at least half dozen rides before 10AM then indulged DS with 1 hour in the game room before the restaurants at CityWalk opened for lunch. Left IOA about 10:55 to be right on time for Margaritaville to open for lunch. Enjoyed lunch with DS and walked back to RPR. DS went swimming. I decided to walk over to US for rides and shows. I returned to RPR--walked back--around 5PM. Relaxed by the pool for a while. DS wanted to go to US so we showered and returned to US--water taxi I think. Had slices of pizza in the park, stayed for the 10PM fireworks. Walked back to hotel. In room by 10:30 PM. Mind you, this was in the heat of August and I was not rushing anywhere. All of this was done at a relaxed pace.

Enjoy. :paw:

I agree thta getting around here is a breeze. The walk really is delightful & you pass right by margaritaville on your way.

They have an ice cream shop doen by the pool that is open during busy times. There are menus on the tables by the pool that you can order the basics from. From what I remember they have: chicken finger, burgers, chips & salsa, a wrap of some sort.... This does get a little expensive when you are buying for a family of 6 so we have found that it is a little more affordable to order take out from Jake's Restaurant (around the corner from the pool) & bring it to the pool area. The concierge also has menus from local pizza places that deliver to the hotel too.

In August, we thought it was a pretty long, hot walk from RPR. It's an easier walk from HRH. We took the boats whenever we could. But, the boats didn't operate any time there was lightening in the area. That's pretty much every afternoon in August.

Another good thing is you don't have to rush, take your time since you'd have FOTL! :) Can't wait!!!!!! First time onsite @ both Disney & Universal.
