My husband and I returned on Monday after a FANTASTIC four days at the Royal Pacific Resort. For a bit of background we stayed one night at Portofino Bay in January and one night at Royal Pacific Resort in May. We fell in love with RPR and scheduled a trip to come back in September. We received a pin code for the time we were planning so we were able to get a King room on the club floor for $191 per night.

We checked in and reiterated our request for a theme park view and were happy to find out that we indeed received our request but the room wasn't ready just yet. Just a few hours later we received a call that our room was ready with the room number. We couldn't wait to check it out and we were not disappointed. I am so impressed by the cleanliness of this resort especially the rooms. I'm a clean freak and these rooms are sooo clean! We were in room 3714 and had a fantastic view (pictures below). Shortly after arriving in our room it began to pour outside - we were happy to watch that all unfold from our room as we had no specific plans other than a late dinner at Fulton's at Downtown Disney later.

We made our first visit to the club floor at 4:30 in advance of our trip to Downtown Disney and were SO impressed. We recently stayed club level at the Yacht Club and there is no comparison to the quality of food. The offerings are out for a shorter amount of time but the quality and quantity is much better. I'm including at the bottom a list of the offerings each night we were there. For breakfast it was the usual pastries, bagels, cereal, and fruit; snacks were varieties of trail mix, uncrustables, chips, and goldfish; dessert at night was cookies and some sort of other item - most nights it was a key lime tart or something similar. We thought that this was a tremendous value.

I ordered cookies and milk for my husband as a cute surprise (they emailed me the list of amenities and I'll post that separately). The cookies were terrible (the club offerings were MUCH better). We also utilized room service one morning for a breakfast of pancakes and bacon. It was very good and the service was excellent.

Housekeeping was always great and our room was always complete no matter how long we were gone. The turn down service is very nice - they leave a little card for you along with bottles of water, take any dirty towels and draw the curtains. A nice touch!

We discovered the sushi bar and managed to eat there three times during our trip! Everything we had was fantastic and it's an easy place to get grab and go food in the evenings. I loved having a glass of wine, people watching and enjoying the view while waiting for our sushi. The ice cream stand is great and my husband LOVES the little station with citrus infused water near the pool. He can't pass it without taking water. It's a small touch that he really enjoys.

I took the boat for the first time just to try it out. It's a very nice ride (it was actually sprinkling when I took it so I was hoping to just stay a bit drier and hopefully the rain would end by the time I arrived. It puts you out between Nascar Cafe and the Fossil store. I truly enjoy the very short walk but it is a nice option if you don't want to walk.

When you are staying on site you can have purchases sent right back to your room which is so nice! You don't have to remember to pick them up they just magically appear in your room while you are out for the day.

The staff at Royal Pacific is fantastic! We found everyone to be friendly and to go out of their way for us. I stopped at the concierge desk one evening because I hadn't yet received one of my packages. He was so nice and quickly told me that the ornament had broken in transit and asked when I was checking out. He explained their process (that the package would actually arrive between 12-2 the next morning) and that I should call star service as soon as I woke up and they'd make sure we had it before our departure at 9:00 a.m.

We had so much fun at RPR and Universal/IOA that we ended up scrapping our planned Disney day to spend more time there. This vacation was so relaxed. Between the front of the line pass and the very pleasant (for summer!) weather it was just a perfect trip. I really am a convert! We've been visiting IOA and Universal for many years but it was only recently that I truly fell in love with the parks and the resort as a whole. I didn't miss Disney at all.

If you are reading this and wondering if RPR might be right for you, I can say that having stayed at all levels of Disney hotels, RPR is a step above a deluxe at Disney. The cleanliness is above Disney in my opinion (at least in our most recent experiences), the club level is much better, the benefits - extra hour at WWHP and front of the line, and the overall value (less than 1/2 the cost of YC for the same time frame) for a bigger/nicer room! If you have any questions, please let me know. (A few pictures are below as well!)

I agree with you about the food being better than that offered at YC. I was pretty surprised to read that you had turn down service. We were there for 3 nights in August and did not receive turn down service once. I had expected it, but then I thought maybe I was confusing RPR with YC so I didn't make an issue of it while I was there.

Glad you had a great stay. That view is great! And what a great rate :worship: My DH would've scrapped Disney to stay at US anyday. RPR is our next stay I think

Bean Bunny, thank you for all the info on RPR. We are planning to surprise the kids the Christmas w/a stay their. All your info was very helpful. I was wondering if you can tell me how you obtained a pin#.

They come down at different times for turndown so we sometimes missed it actually because we were napping with the "do not disturb" sign in. The first night I'm guessing they came around 5:30 but other nights we were in the room when they stopped and it was 4:00. Sorry you didn't experience it on your trip! Also my understanding is that anyone can request turn down service even if you aren't on the club level by calling star service.

We aren't sure how we got a pin! There was actually a thread about this a while back and it seemed the people who got it were all over the place. Some hadn't been in a year, others, like my husband and I, had been twice already this year. It was a great deal but I find that in general the RPR rates are very reasonable. We have an annual pass and I definitely suggest that if you plan to go a few times to the park. The discount for the hotel that we've been able to get along with all the discounts in the parks has more than paid for the pass!

request turn down service when you check in.
if the hotel is not full, you will probably receive it.

if you are on club level, it usually is included without having to request it.
