ROYAL PACIFIC RESORT INFO...FAQ and more......

Reading a lot of on line reviews. I see some great reviews and some bad reviews. Please provide your opinion of the cleanliness and conditions of the rooms. I have a hard time getting comfortable in a hotel room unless it's really clean. Have you had any bad experiences at RP?
Our room has always been clean and in good condition.

We just booked our first US trip!

We're staying 7 nights at RP. There are 5 of us. We know it'll be a bit cramped, but we only use the room itself for sleeping. We just got the unlimited Military freedom tickets. We are staying off site for a week prior, for a family reunion thing. We might sneak away from the family once or twice to use our US tickets prior to this :o.

As this is our first trip, we are looking forward to making it very relaxing, with plenty of time to take it all in slowly, and still see absolutely everything without rushing around.

Some questions:
1. We're staying mid Aug. Anyone know the exact dates for the Islands Restuarant closure mentioned above? We didn't get an email about it. If they are closed, is TukTuk the only breakfast option?
2. Our plan arrival day is to check in, get our EU passes, drop off luggage at Bell Services, and head to one of the parks. Come back early afternoon to settle into the room, and try the Luau for dinner (check in day is a Sat). Any opinion on the Luau? Worth the upgrade to prime seating? We are checking out the following Sat, and while we could leave after the Luau then, it would definitely put a damper on the unlimited Mai Tais! So, thoughts on arrival day Luau?
3. We won't be bringing anything that needs to be hung in the closet, but (from advice here) we have hanging shelves we can bring. I was wondering how many would fit in the closet. About how wide is the closet? We easily fit four of them in Carribean Beach at WDW (they are 12"). With 6 shelves each, that completely solved our clothing storage.
4. I've read from older posts that you can bring an air bed, and not pay for the trundle bed. Do they still let you have 5 in a room and not rent the trundle bed?

Thanks all!

They haven`t released the exact date Island will close nor have they said Jake`s will open for breakfast short term, if that`s the case then yes, Tuk Tuk is your other option other than club level.

We liked the Luau, we did have the preferred seats, we didn`t pay for it as it was gifted to us so I`ve no idea if you`d think it was worth it or not. The food was good and it has some very good choices. As for doing it on arrival day, why not!! :-)

You can bring an air mattress and not hire the rollaway bed. They will bring you bedding for it at no cost, call Star Services on the room phone when you arrive and they`ll send you bedding.

I have honestly never heard of bringing hanging shelves to a hotel??? But this is a picture of the closet in a standard room at RP. There is a large shelf you can`t see in the picture that easily holds one huge suitcase and other items too.

Thanks for the reply! Very helpful.

These are what we have. Hopefully all 4 will fit, but I think we'd be able to use at least 3 of them. They are great when you're packing nothing but shorts and t-shirts for a weeklong trip!

This is a last-minute trip, as we didn't think our schedule would work out for this. Our previous Disney trips and cruises have all been planned out at least 9 months in advance! Lots of hectic planning to do!

lol....I was imagining wooden shelves and I admit, I was scratching my head wondering how on earth they were convenient....😊

I see now, you will get at least three of them for sure.

Last minute trips are fantastic, the wonderful thing about Universal is you really don`t need to plan much and having EP is beyond amazing. Honestly, we barely plan anything and always have the best time.

You`ll love RP!!

The only thing I could find indicating that Islands Dining will be refurbished is on the reservation page. Starting in late October the color on the calendar turns red. Dates that are too far out to book right now are grayed out. It seems a little dicey that they would send out emails to folks saying the restaurant will close in August, but still allow guests to book out until October through the official reservation system.

I tried to book Island Dining hall for dinner for our October trip, but only breakfast showed availability. Maybe it’s closed for dinner only?

I have a September trip booked and haven’t heard anything yet. Breakfast at Islands Dining is a big reason I booked there.

To add to this, Islands Dining has dinner reservations available through Aug 14, but nothing afterwards.

Breakfast reservations are available through Oct 24.

For comparison, Jake's is available for lunch and dinner through Nov. 7 (as of today, July 11).

Is it possible to cancel an RPR reservation online? The reservation was made online and it's for December, so it's more than 5 days out.

We were able to get a terrific discount using an AP rate this morning, so we made that reservation before cancelling the original one. But do we have to call? Or can we cancel it online?

Thanks!

Edit: Never mind! I found the link and was able to cancel it online. But thought I'd leave this post up in case anyone else has the same question. The answer is: Yes, you can cancel it online if you made the reservation online.

I booked ghost rooms for an upcoming vacation in early August. Does it get very crowded at check in during the morning? I would like to enjoy EPA. Also how long should I expect it to take to get to the park and what is the fastest route?
