Has anyone tried the following buffet dining options at he Royal Pacific Resort at Universal? Recommendations and comments on what is served for these buffets?

1. Islands Dining Room Breakfast Buffet - $16.99

2. Islands Dining Room Dinner Buffet - Supposedly seafood buffet for around $30+ on Fridays and an american style buffet for $24+ on Saturdays?

3. Wantilan Luau - $52 for an outdoor luau with roasted pig, ribs, chicken, fish, wine and beer

We're stayin 3 nights and are trying to figure out dining options... also probably want to do something at Citywalk, or maybe the Pirate Dinner show or the Texas-Brazil steakhouse nearby. Or maybe other restaurants at one of the Loewes hotels (hard rock, emeril's restaurant, palm, etc).

We did not eat at any of the buffets at RPR when we stayed there earlier this summer and I just wanted to comment on why. We were actually stuck in the hotel at dinner time one night due to a drenching thunderstorm that hit and didn't seem to let up. We went down and looked at the buffet and it did not look appetizing at all. Food looked like it had been sitting out for a long time under heat lamps - most of the trays looked half empty and dried out. Tellingly, there were very few people who seemed to be eating there. The restaurant was virtually empty.

We went over to the other restaurant - I can't remember the name but its a casual style place connected to the bar. There was a waiting list there and lots of people hanging around to be seated. You have to wonder why one restaurant is empty and the other has a waiting list. We decided to eat there instead. The food at this place was good but service left a lot to be desired. If I was staying at RPR again, I wouldn't eat at the hotel.

edited to add: I know there is an Emeril restaurant there that many rave about. That's a bit too fancy for my kids and out of our budget so I can't comment on it.

We have tried both the breakfast and dinner buffets at Royal Pacific.
We consider them both excellent.

We loved the breakfast buffé!!! Excellent food and wonderful staff. Did not try the dinner buffé.

We have done all three. And all of it is worth every penny :thumbsup2

The seafood buffet is my fav with all-u-can eat crab legs.Plus they have a chef carving meat(beef)thats so tender....

We had the breakfast buffet. Between us ( me, DD, and DM) we tried the pancakes, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and fruit. I ordered a small ham and cheese omelet that was delish- and huge. Everything was very good. They also had sausage links, french toast, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, dry cereal. The selection of pastries and muffins looked like any continental buffet. I can't say it was worth $17 as we are normally light eaters. If the boys had not been asleep, they would have loved it! We enjoyed our meal.
We also enjoy Bubba Gumps ,Hard Rock, and Margaritaville.
