We stayed last night at the Royal Pacific Hotel. We only stayed one night, we liked being on property and the FOTL passes. Checked in early so we could get our keys and be at the park by opening. We arrived around 7:45am.

We were greated at our car (we were the only ones out there) and they took our luggage and walked us inside. He was a very friendly informative bellhop. No one was waiting to check in so we went right up to the desk. I didn't remember when dh made the ressie that I had signed up for the Loews First program so I brought my number with me and we gave it to them.

Our room was ready by 3pm and we left the parks to go to the room. We were in building 1 on floor 4, it was room 1418. It faced the pool, it was a fantastic view of the pool area actually!!!

The room was very clean and it was nicely decorated. And we loved the location. Now, the negatives. The first thing was the phone by the beds. My husband used it to call for our luggage and it was not working at all so we used the one on the desk, so this was fine... we had one working phone.

The second thing wrong we noticed when we came back to the room and dh left again to get milk for ds. The door did not close on it's own... sure it banged loud enough but it didn't close. We could have easily left the room all dy long with a wide open door.

The third thing wrong was when we were getting into bed. The girls were trying to get to sleep but dh and I wanted our lights over our bed on. Both of them were burned out or not working or something. Couldn't have any other lights on so we just gave up.

And then the next morning we found the forth thing, we took a shower... well if you could call it that. The shower head was all rusted over and plugged up so it was a tinkling stream of about 3 streams of water.

My dh is not usually one to complain... I am the complainer of the family. But my philosophy in life is that we pay for service and if service is lacking then what did I pay for? But at this point, my dh was pretty upset with the whole thing. He was looking all over the room for a comment card and couldn't find one. I told him that usually in circumstances like this, if you complain when you get home, you are asked by whoever contacts you back why didn't you talk to someone while you were there?

So we grabbed all our stuff and headed downstairs. We sat on a bench while dh (who is not at all confrontational) talked to someone at the front desk. He came back to tell me that they took half price off the room. Dh told me all he did was tell them the things that were wrong and she said hold on and came back and offered it. And dh said I wasn't asking for anything and the lady said I know you weren't.. I know you weren't at all but we are giving it to you. So that was nice, the refund basically paid for our tickets.

Then we ran into the biggest problem of all. Everyone and their brother was checking out at the same time. When dh gave in his ticket to valet, there was a line of 35 keys waiting for valet to pick up. It took us 45 minutes to get our car. People were complaining left and right... they were gonna miss their flight and all. Some people were asking to get the cars themselves but valet wouldn't allow it. When we finally got our car, the valet guy apologized and we said it was quite alright but he insisted on bringing us 4 ice cold bottles of water... lol.

So all in all, it was a nice stay at Royal Pacific... I probably would try HRH or Portofino before I stayed here again. It's a beautiful hotel though, beautiful landscaping and design. Everyone that worked there was incredibly friendly.

I just got back from RPR as well. I didnt have any of the same issues as you did, but I didnt try to check out (I did the express check out...just put the form in the box) and I didnt valet park. I am glad I didnt if there were problems like that, but I left late afternoon so it might not have been an issue. I am really surprised about the shower tho. ??? I have never heard about anyone having trouble with the showers at RPR (I heard about some at HRH but supposedly those have been fixed) I hope it was a fluke. I think RPR is such a wonderful place to stay, and so beautiful. I am still torn between it and HRH, mostly because of the really short walk at HRH. :hippie:
