From looking at the pictures from the website I am trying to compare the Royal Pacific to a WDW resort. Would you say the rooms compare with a moderate or a value resort? From the pics the rooms look small and may not do them justice. Thanks :)

The RPR is like no other!!!! Just kidding, but really it's a great resort. It is supposed to be a moderate resort, but it's first class all the way. The rooms are smaller than some at WDW, but they are about the same size as the value resorts at WDW. However, they are not as skimpy on amenities. For example, they have real closets and not just a bar from wall to wall. The decor is also very nice.

Well I have only stayed at RPR and HRH at Universal and I think they are right on par with the deluxe resorts at Disney--but usually smidge cheaper :D

I've only stayed at ASMo when at Disney and I thought our RPR room was alot bigger than the ASMo room. I don't have any stats to confirm that, but I felt like we had plenty of space with DH & our 2 children at RPR. The rest of the RP definitely had a "deluxe" resort feel to it! Beautiful grounds, airy & open feeling, and at $144 in June I thought it was a bargain. Especially with FOTL! :p Now.....I really must get started on that trip report.;)

RPR FAQS:

Standard Rooms:
room size is 335 square feet

Water View Rooms:
room size is 335 square feet

Club Level Rooms:
room size is 575 square feet

From the General Hotel FAQ on WDWIG http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_gen.htm

Value Resorts:

All-Star Movies - 260 square feet
All-Star Music - 260 square feet
All-Star Sports - 260 square feet
Pop Century - 260 square feet

Moderate Resorts:

Riverside (was Dixie Landings) - 314
French Quarter (was Port Orleans) - 314
Coronado Springs - 314
Caribbean Beach - 340

Deluxe Resorts:

Wilderness Lodge - 340
Animal Kingdom Lodge - 344
Beach Club - 380
Yacht Club - 380
BoardWalk Inn - 380
Grand Floridian - 400
Polynesian - 409
Contemporary - 422

So it looks like it is comparable to the Caribbean Beach resort, Wilderness lodge, and Animal kingdom lodge. I think the room appear smaller because it has two queen size beds instead of two double beds like the Disney resorts.

Thank you phamton for doing the research! I knew there was more space in our RP standard than at ASMo. The table & chairs at the RP were also nice & heavy with cushions. A nice change from the rickety little set we had at ASMo.

We moved from the Pop to RPR, and what a change! THe room was MASSIVELY bigger, or at least it felt that way, and we had two queens instead of doubles like Pop. THe whole thing felt like a deluxe, to me. GORGEOUS.

WOw thanks guys :) Now I am going to speak with Dh about switching from the Pop to there :)

For real Club level rooms at RPR are 575 square feet? I'd be wicked pumped if they were, but I thought they were just the same size as the standard rooms.

That is the sq. footage listed on the RPR website. I'm assuming they are accurate.

My thought was that the rooms at RPR felt equivalent to those at CBR and/or AKL - but the theming/quality was closer to AKL. According to the link, RPR rooms are 335, CBR are 340, and AKL are 344. All of the main/public areas of RPR are really beautiful also !! As long as they keep offering such great room discounts combined with FOTL and great service, we'll keep returning to USF for part of every Florida trip !!

We just stayed club level at RPR and the room size seemed just the same as the regular room we stayed in in 2002. What is the room size of the deluxe room at HRH?? I thought that onw was about 500 something sq ft and if so then the RPR cant be 575.

OK, looks like I made a mistake. I copied the first room sizes from:
http://www.ineedavacation.com/universalmco/RoyalPacific.html

After some of you questioned the room sizes I went to another site (which looks more accurate).
Here is a copy and paste from:
http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/orlando/website/resort_hotels/rp_rooms.html

Sorry for the inaccuracies in my first post. I just assumed the first site was correct. Obviously I was mistaken.

thanks so much...I would not even think to search for room sq footage! These boards are so awesome :)

For two of our RPR stays, we had a standard room,, and for the third stay, we stayed on the club level. The room was not markedly different at all in size to the standard rooms at all. I think the specs they are stating there apply to the PBH club. I have a feeling that's a typo saying the RPR club rooms are larger than their standard. They should correct that,,lol.

To compare to Disney resorts,, we have stayed at the CBR, WL, POFQ, and the Poly.

I would put the RPR as being at least as good as the two deluxe resorts I have stayed at, if not a bit nicer than the Poly, because the rooms are newer. The atomsphere is very comparable tho. The lower room cost is appealing too ;)

You're right, Teris. The club level rooms are the same size as the standard rooms. I just did a search on Google for "Royal Pacific resort room size" and the first link that came up had all the info for RPR so I assumed they were a direct link to RPR and should be correct. Then people here seemed certain that the Club Level rooms were the same size as standard. So I did another search, this time on the Universal resorts site and got the official page with the correct room diminsions.

Sorry for the confusion.

I'd say that the Universal hotels compare to the Deluxe Disney Hotels. In my experience, the Universal rooms are much nicer than those at WL and Poly. I would put them at par with the Yacht and Beach club but the feeling is completely different so it makes it hard to compare.

I feel just as pampered at Universal as I did at the Yacht and Beach Club but not quite as much as the GF.
