Last year we stayed at the Royal Mansions in Port Canaveral before our cruise. I had posted here before of our nightmare stay but told you all we were giving them a second chance because the general manager Dianna had usured me after my complaints were addressed that our incidents at the property were not the norm.
Here is what happened:
Booked through lodging.com, my husband threw his back out at WDW. At check in I asked if we could upgrade to a floor unit to avoid the stairs. The girl at the front desk was rude and said since I booked through a wholeseller I was stuck with what I got, I went on to explain that I also worked in a hotel and that I was not asking for a FREE upgrade I would be happy to pay. She said no you cannot change it. My husband then tryed to make light of a very tense situation and asked if it was busy....NOPE she said.
Obviously from the amount of people staying there, they could of moved us.
Checked into the Room she said we were stuck with.
There were dirty q-tips, boobi-pins on the floor, pennies , someones broken eyeglasses on our bed, food in the micro from the last guest and was filthy , the fridge was rusted badly, there was sticky spilled all over the fridge and I could go on and on, hair in the bathroom all over the place, ect...
We left immediatly to the store to buy cleaning supplies.(Since I was STUCK with this room I wanted at least clean it.
I collected all the goodies I found and returned them at check out with a nice little comment card that I handed to the front desk person. We then departed for our cruise and has a wonderful time.
When we returned home more than a week later I expected a phone call or email from the Royal Mansions at least apolagizing.
NOTHING, so I emailed the manager and she did call right away.
She asked if we would come back and I said maybe, she sent us a certificate that expired within one year good for the lenght of our last stay. I thought we would give them another chance since she said it was not the norm. Although I did talk to a couple at the pool who said that there room was fine they meet a couple who like us not only were checked into a dirty room but one with two drunk ladies still in it!
We were all ready to book when our nation went on ORANGE ALERT, my family does not want to fly during an Orange alert so I emailed the Royal Mansions and asked if we could extend it (the certificate)

After several days this is the response I received(:Ms. Ransier,

I am sorry but we will not be able to extend the expiration of Gift Certificates as we
were recently sold to another company. As a part of the closing, complimentary stays
were accepted, however, extensions are not.

Dianna)

Needless to say I'am not that suprized considering the treatment we received at check in. I will not recommend this property to anyone nor any of my clients.

 :(

Sounds like a lousy experience. Hopefully this new company will come in and make some changes for the better!!!!
Glad that your Magic trip was unaffected by this experience!

Well I was hoping the same, being in the hospitality industry myself and having managed several propertys that had bad reps and complaints, we would always honer certificates. Especally comment card complaits because you want the guest to come back and see that changes have been made. So they can tell thier friends. I see Royal Mansions does not care for repeat busness. This is sad as they have a really nice location. Gues we will try a different property next time. Anyone have any reccomandations?

I'd be tempted to write to them after the new ownership takes place. Briefly explain the troubles you had and mention that you'll be back in the area frequently and loved their location. Tell them what a shame it is that they won't honor the certificate since the ONLY way you'll come back to check out the property again is if it's free.
(shrug)
Or stay at the Raddison or Hampton Inn. :)

Hey there,
This is Shirley - the one that tried to resolve this problem last year by contacting the Royal Mansion and even forwarded your letter to them - I even spoke to Dianna in your behalf just to see what was going on - at that time, I was told you would be given a certificate that entitled you to 4 nights stay without any strings attached - When I read your post, I called RM to find out what was going on - I learned they did go under new management as of June 4th of this year and even tho they will honor the certificate they gave you lst September - the establishment will not extend it til next year as requested - that it expired September 12, of this year - they were sorry that the new management has made this decision - Now Dianna is no longer with them - I have asked for management to call me and will let you know - I understand everything has been upgraded and with many new plans for the RM with all the old problems corrected - NOW I am not taking sides for anyone - I just am up with what I feel is right - Now as soon as I hear back from RM - will post what am told by the "higher" ups ok - Again I understand you do have until this September to use it - can you email me as to how long you wanted entended it for/
thanks a lot and again will post what is told to me.
Always
Shirley

Thanks Shirly. I asked Dianna (whom was employed with them as of June 4th as this is the day she emailed me back) I also requested from her the owners contact info and she did not respond.
