That really stinks. I hate hearing these stories, and just feel more fortunate each day that we are able to go to Disney. I actually had to bite my tongue with in-laws last night complaining about how the new unemployment laws (you know, extending benefits) is bad and hurting them (they make very good money), because it's only going to keep people from looking for jobs. I wanted to scream and say "Don't you realize that these laws are to help those who cannot find a job...it's nearly impossible for some people to find a job these days...there will always be people that abuse the system, but we can't punish the majority of the honest people because of a few"

Everyday here someone is talking about losing a job, going to lose a job, how to collect unemployment...it's so sad!

Hopefully, things will start to turn around soon for these folks and they'll get their Disney vacation, even if it is a little later than originally planned. Later is better than never...so, I'll send them some ixiedust: and wishes!

So true. Two of my adult children are laid off, they both have children and non-working spouses. My middle DS just rented his placed last month and BOOM..his hours are cut to 30 or less. I feel sick for them. Luckily, we have a huge house (9 bedrooms) so if they have to start moving back home, at least we will have room for the older kids...and their spouse...and all the grandbabies.......and their dogs........

........OMG! Mr. President...you better get the economy fixed before that happens or I will be camping out on your front lawn. It will definitely be quieter sleeping on the front lawn of the Whitehouse in the middle of Washington DC, then living here when/if everyone moves back home!!!!

Wow--- this is the first I've seen of a stroller swap?

Have dates been set for January 2010 yet? We have four special needs children (one blind, MR, and LFA, one with cerebral palsy, one with several heart conditions who will have had recent open heart surgery, and one with HGH deficiency and HFA) and so we're looking at needing 2 double strollers. Is that even allowed under swap rules, if we paid for use of both?

We've been looking at rental places and it looks like it will cost us several hundred dollars to rent. This would save us a ton of money!

Yes, it sounds like you would sleep more peacefully...but how nice is it for your children that you even think like that...I remember now you writing about your house and all of your xmas trees!

Yep sure is and I am so proud of him. They are official broke-up and she (and her parents) have tried all kinds of things but it has been quiet for a lil over a week. Hopefully it's coming to an end.

As of last week...yep...unreal huh? I went over to get the last of his things and X-FMIL said to tell him that she just KNOWS they will get together again and will still be working on things. She isn't cancelling anything as she knows they will work things out. What part of this doesn't she get?

He is sooooooo back to him old self...picking, teasing with us and his siblings, all of his friends are totally back into his life (and not hanging out at our house waiting on him to wake up...lol) They came over last night and raided the candy bowl (we always have a supply of tootsie rolls, suckers, smarties, etc.) hocked another set of cards and were placing value on the candy. It was so funny seeing 4 18-20 year olds sitting around the table deciding if a smartie was worth more than a tootsie roll! (can you tell they are either laid off or hours cut...forget money...give us candy!)

So as they were getting ready to go back to his house for a poker night with candy being the prize. They grabbed chips, frozen pizzas, a couple two-liters of sprite, etc. on the way out the door. Their exact words....Mom, we are having poker night and going grocery shopping....in your cupboards.... WOW this is better than Krogers anyday of the week...it's free!

It's so great to hear that your son is back to his old self, and that his friends are still there for him! My DH still raids his mothers cabinets (and we have plenty of food), but there's nothing like having mom take care of you I guess! I'll know soon enough, I'm sure.

Ryan840 has stroller #2 from 4/30-5/6. No, in all honesty, I don't see how you won't have a split. It would be different if Ryan840 only had the stroller for 4/30-5/1...then I would say go ahead and ask her. But if the calendar changed than Ryan840 would have to do the split. KWIM? I'd be more than happy to put you in Swap #2 and #3
