I'm kind of surprised that so many people think that because Roy filed than Patricia must be the wronged party. Sure, maybe he has a gf or maybe it was an unhappy marriage, maybe she's only with him for his money and he just decided it was time to end it. The second article makes it sound like it was a mutual consent kind of situation. Certainly saying that it was a long time coming suggests that it isn't a surprise to the parties involved, and probably not their family and friends either.
Reminds me of my grandparents good friends. A few years ago Herb surprised everyone by filing for divorce from Darlene. They had seemed like such a nice couple, albeit with occasional bickering, that my grandparents thought that after 45 years or whatever it was and kids they were definitely lasting. Grandma wouldn't talk to Herb for a long time thinking he was some piece of work to do that. When she finally talked to him it turns out they had never known that Darlene was an abusive spouse and he just decided that he wanted the last few years of his life to be happy ones.
Now I'm not saying that Patricia is some of kind of mega-shrew. Maybe both of them just want the last few years of their lives to be happy ones.
