Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

WHOA!!! You are a speedster, girl. Way to go!!

Personally I feel like it was the Dopey sticker that did the trick and clearly a sign from the running gods that you need to do Dopey at some point in the future!

I just know my audience. It was either him or pascal this time. I'd post a picture of my lunch for you, but you'd faint at all the carbs.

Ok @DopeyBadger did you see this coming or are you just as "shook" as I am?

Only you can tell me if this is real. Was this honestly "Tempo pace"? As the goal of all blind runs is an accurate assessment of your ability to internalize the pace. So if you believe this was honestly "tempo" pace, then I'll believe it was "tempo" pace. To be careful, make sure to pull back on the next two runs so that if this was an overreaching workout you don't injure yourself.

As for being surprised. I've learned to never put limits on people's ability to make improvements in running, especially yours. So it would not "shake" me one bit to learn that this is real. Just a sign that you keep getting better! Keep up the great work! :thumbsup2

A good question for me for sure....I don't have a lot of non treadmill practice at tempo and now I'm wondering if I was expecting to slow as it went on and thus tried to push to tempo without needing to or did I not? I'm gonna think on this one. Conundrum!
If it were last weekend when it was warm do I go slower...I think so.
I always feel like treadmill is so so so fast at 9:40ish. maybe I need to back off pace on the treadmill if the feeling is equaling this outside?
If I had my watch as a crutch would o have settled at 9:30ish and not sped up ...yeah I think so??? Probably.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

Haha, I pick up some slang now and again but use it correctly only 34.25% of the time.

I think if I've learned anything today it's that I better be careful at the beginning of the half not to go nutso out the gate. Because under the right conditions I guess I get excited to go fast and if I feel like I'm not dying I just keep pushing. Maybe waiting for "dying" as the sign I'm going too fast isn't the best approach (as far as a training run.)
In summary...I think I better be careful (unless it's really hot or I'm really tired and then I should have no issue starting off slower.) Feeling good still though today.
Can you tell I overthink everything afterwards?

Happy to report there was no over reaching today. Beautiful weather and got an actual real nap in earlier today. I could use some pixie dust sent virtually to IL for my mama today as she's feeling under the weather. Hoping she can bounce back before our trip but also so she can just feel better too.

See I made sure to slow my roll after my first lap pace. Listened to the Disney virtual shorts Spotify playlist even though I'm not signed up for those medals. Was summery and not blood-pumping.
Virtual hugs for everyone since I can't hug my mama tonight.

I think January 2018 is future, right?

Just saw your Friday update. I am with those above, in that the Dopey Sticker is calling to you.....

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts for my mama. She will be in the hospital through probably this Thursday while they figure out a new chemistry for her infusions/pills etc that don't make her feel sicker. We like it when she feels better. I was so happy that they let me go and visit her last night and that anything worse than what we though was ruled out. So anyways...just thank you for any good feelings and we will still see if an Anaheim trip can happen or not for her...but happy thoughts.

But running is good. It's something I can control when I can't control EVERYTHING going on and it's at the same time something I can do to just clear my brain from trying to control all things. Just go and run.
My long run was a short run. 4 miles this week! I went out in target shorts that I'd never worn before and made it one block before turning back because they were up my thighs horribly. I think these will be relegated to cute walk around shorts. I switched into the nike compression shorts and I made it one block before I had the biggest wedgie of all time (I failed to change into more appropriate undergarments #TMI) but I wouldn't allow myself to go back home so I just decided to deal with it. I didn't realize until about 6 minutes in that I was listening to my daughter's My Little Pony soundtrack on spotify. "We've Got Hearts like Horses" is a weird song. So I rectified that, turned on my fireworks music and I think I was so out of it while I was out there that I kind of finished my whole run without really knowing or registering that I had even done it. Ever drive someplace and then kind of go "woah, I don't even remember driving here" but you still go the right place?
I do remember picking a giant wedgie on the busiest intersection of my neighborhood for the world to see though. Because I'm a lady with class. My avg pace was 10:30 something but looking at my garmin data I was as high as 11:45 at some points and lower than 10 at others. So I think I was just out there without being "all there."

But I did it!

Hubby is conquering his tri-training like a beast. He's going on 2 hour bike rides and swimming for over an hour and running a bunch too. He did a zone 1 heart rate run for 45 min per his plan and got 4 miles exactly so I can for sure tell he's getting better. He likes endurance over speed stuff, but I think his endurance training is making him faster. Sound familiar?

I'll post some pics after this but I had bike adventure with my kiddo on the lake front this weekend because all the pics I was posting on the running thread made me want to go again.

TINK TRAINING WEEK #15! AKA THE 10 MILER WEEK!! DUNDUNDUN!
Mon 4/24: Rest (I'm thankful for a rest day after my first ever back to back to back run weekend, but I'm also feeling way better than expected. The lower mileage was helpful.)
Tue 4/25: 5 miles @ EB...going treadmill to keep them easy and consistent
Wed 4/26: STIR...but I may just do yoga instead. I think if I'm less sore and more zen this week it will be ok.
Thur 4/27: 1 mi WU, 6 mi Tempo, 1 mi CD. OOOPH. I'll start thinking about that more when on Thursday and pretend it doesn't exist until then.

Fri 4/28: REST!!!
Sat 4/29: 5 mi @ EA - okay!
Sun 4/30: 10 mi @ LR
This is the one...double digits...something I've never ever ever done. I mean, if I add in the warmups pre-race and the walking around post race after my 15k I'm sure I probably hit way over 10 mile in total leg motions...but I've never done a dedicated run over 9.3 miles in my life.
Right now...I'm not scared of it. I just add another .5 miles to my route from my 9 mile run before I do my turnaround. So 5 miles and back instead of 4.5 miles and back. I just have to think of it that way right?
Nutrition strategy. Gonna stick with the cliff gels because it worked last time. So I'm gonna try 4.5 mile again for the gel cause that's what I did last time and then again at 8? Or should I do 4 miles and then 8?
The water fountains are STILL OFF!!! So I'm gonna stop into the coffee shop that has a fountain inside at either mile 3.5ish or (6.5ish on the way back) to refill.
Question: Do I keep my watch running for my water stop...seems like I should right? And I'll keep it going if I walk to fuel...cause that's how I'll do it at the race.

Ok so that was a huge info dump with no gifs....I apologize for lack of pics but I'll be back with more fun things I'm sure in no time.

Still sending lots of pixie dust to your Mama! Happy to hear that more serious things are ruled out and hopeful that the change in meds gets her feeling ready for a trip to Tink weekend!! :tinker:

So, We've got Hearts like Horses should be a good running song, no? I mean, this pretty pony looks pretty serious about it!

And, ya know, sometimes wedgies just need to be picked. Public viewing aside!
