Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

Two part update. My plan for this week and my recent cooking adventures!

Week 4 (how is that even possible already? Time is flying)
Mon 8/15: butt-sitting
Tues 8/16: 4 miles EB pace of 12:13. Longest tuesday mileage so far and a jump in pace. Wish me luck.
Wed: off
Thur: 2 mi WU, 2mi tempo, 2mi CD (I've done it before, I can do it again. But this is def the most mental one for me by far)
Fri: off
Weekend: 6 miles long run. Next week is a Blind run. I feel most locked in during my long runs so I guess this is gonna test that. Gonna pay real close attention to pace feelings this week. Please weather be cooler!!!!

two 6 mile runs in one week....who have I become?

And now Food!
image.jpg
This was a lil baby burger with goat cheese and honey on it and my fries were zuchinni. I really want a spiralozer to make zoodles and may break down and get one.

image.jpg
Not my best. Trying to make a chicken biscuit sandwich. The biscuits were good and the greens with carrots were good, but the chick was too thick and it became knife and fork.

image.jpg
Not much to look at but one of my faves. Fresh basil noodles with cherry tomatoes (cooked) and zuchinni. Simple but yum!

First time making farro. Think I undercooked it. But everything else worked. There's kale and almonds and balsamic in the farro under that pile. That's chicken and then plums with balsamic and olive oil and scallions on top. A solid B.

I have other pics but they are living on my hubby's phone. So t.b.c.

Ahem! :wave2:

:duck:

:D

Just saying!

A) I never said I was perfect.
B) A journal of a perfect runner would be boring for all involved
C) I have a drawer full or tomatoes in my fridge right now....just sayin
D) Maybe one day I'll run a 5k race with no watch "GASP!" Yeah not sure what day that will be but maybe one day. :)
BUSTED!!! :rotfl2:

If I see any extra 15 blind runs on my next training plan I'll know why :)

Also, please come to my house and cook my meals for me. kthxbye

SURE! A disboards foreign exchange program. I'll come over to your house and you can send your beagle over to my house to play with my kiddo. (disclaimer...we may not give back the beagle)

YUMMY on the food pics. And, pull the trigger on the spiral slicer. I LOVE zoodles. Totally worth the purchase. I got one at Bed, Bath and Beyond for like $15. It's plastic and cheap looking, but the blade is sharp and it works great.

I think I have to. I love zucchini and it's in season right now and it's really annoying slicing it longways with a knife. Stay tuned for future zoodling!

Why is it that everything you eat looks delicious and everything I eat looks like leftovers? I'm jealous...

I spend almost as much time chopping and prepping in lil bowls as I do cooking my meal. And then I like to make lil cute food piles to be fancy. Instead of meat, starch, veggie in seperate piles on the plate...I just make lil food towers. Tonight's dinner didn't look super attractive so I didn't take its picture. But it was spaghetti with a sauce made of tinkerbell!!! peppers and pinenuts. Ugly but yummy.

Just leaving this here as a reminder to myself to drink more water today. I had an over-caffeinated day yesterday because of meetings all day that had coffee and diet coke cans just hanging around for all of us. I felt a little like a hopped up squirrel and it wasn't great. The sugar free pudding for dessert was also a mistake. So let's just say I ran home a little faster than intended for emergency purposes.

But all in, I like that EB 12:13 pace a lot and was actually feeling pretty comfortable with it...until I wasn't...for non-cardio reasons.

Sorry for the overshare. I'm gonna go have some water now.

Non-running issues that interfere with running are annoying ... but that's life.
Now drink some water!! (I say as I'm sitting as Starbucks drinking my 5-pump vanilla latte with an extra shot)

I'll trade you whatever crazy thing I make for dinner for your 5-pump vanilla latte with an extra shot. I mean...there's probably water in there, right?

Can I ask you a rawthreads question because I seem to remember you have purchased from there (or am I totally remembering that wrong?) How does the fabric stack up to a good sweaty run? As compared to tech material and evil-normal-cotton? I've been eyeballing a few shirts but haven't pulled the trigger. (Specifically the cute "disney" bow shirts)
Edited to ask about sizing too. I think a Large would be ok for me. It says 10-12. But I worry they'll be too small. I normally wear large women's race shirts from all races if that's a good comparison. (there's some on sale for $15)

It's an iced latte. Ice is water. We're good.

I'd put it in between tech material and cotton. IIRC, the shirts are generally made of 45% bamboo, 50% organic cotton (which is mad comfy), and 5% spandex. You are still going to sweat, and the sweat is going to show up (especially on the lighter shirts), but I find that it's a lot more comfortable than your average cotton. If I wear a cotton shirt, I feel the sweat right away. In Raw Threads, I know that I'm sweating, but I don't really feel gross and sweaty unless it's a really long run (and even then, it doesn't bother me).
That said, it's not as great with the sweat as tech materials.
I'm also going to tag @Ariel484 here, because I know she has worn Raw Threads in the past and she may have a different opinion.

Somewhat comparable, but I think Raw Threads is a drop smaller. But not significantly.
My runDisney 10K tech shirt is a size large and it's a drop loose (which is how I like it), but my Raw Threads large shirts fit perfectly. I'd say that if you normally get large women's race shirts, you're probably fine going with a large.

Thanks @SarahDisney that's super helpful. I'm currently crying into my desk because the sale snow white one I had my eye on most is now sold out. I snooze, I lose! But maybe I'll just go for that mystery pack....hmmmmmm.

Oh geeeez, those mystery packs are $$$$$$....hmmmm, back to stalking the sales.

@SarahDisney If you win the lottery, I think this should be your first purchase. They personalize it with your name!!!!!!

I can't do Raw Threads anymore for running - I sweat WAY too much that it's just not breathable enough for me.

I totally agree with @SarahDisney that it shows your sweat. I actually went back through some of my pictures from the 2015 WDW Half and PHOTOSHOPPED them because I was covered in sweat marks!

Now, for casual wear - super comfy. And they used to make pajamas...I stocked up on those when they were on sale and again, very comfy. But like I said, I realized can't do their stuff for running anymore.

Ok, that was my main concern. But for cute not-sweating-in-stuff-times maybe I'll bite if my size is ever back on sale and not sold out. I also waaaant those coffee shirts, but same thing...stalk until they are on sale (if ever.)

Random and unrelated thing: I kind of let my dis-freak-flag fly on accident. During our meeting our assistant came in with Panera salads and baguettes and I may have said a little to loud "Maurice, the baguettes!" And I swear to god it was crickets. No one had any idea what I was talking about. She said "like...french people" And I just said "nevermind" Sigh

oh definitely try it - maybe they'll work better for you. Just don't do what I did and buy a BUNCH of shirts, take the tags off and THEN realize they don't actually work for you. :sad2:

Your assistant needs to get on your level. :sad2:

I wish it was socially acceptable to wear disney t-shirts and leggings to work daily. Maybe I need to just get a job at Pixar. Even though my artistic abilities are at a 5 year old level.

So today it is pouring outside. Dark and gloomy. The plus side is that the temp dropped to the 70's but the down-side is the whole raining thing. Hoping it clears up for my run tonight, but if not...forcing myself to face the treadmill demon isn't such a bad thing. I'm gonna have to get used to hopping back on it since it's only a matter of time before it gets darker out sooner. So we shall see how tonight plays out.
