Route 66 / St. Louis - "The World's Largest?"

When I read the OP I was going to mention the ketchup bottle - from my hometown (at one point). LOL

I live near St. Louis and work in the city. The zoo is amazing and we love City Museum, it can be very crowded and hot inside, but so fun. Last time we went our DD was 3 so we didn't let her do too much big stuff, but she still had a blast.

Magic House is super fun, I think way more fun than Science Center for young kids.

Does hidden valley have ski school? Little man has never skied and the wife and I haven't for 20 years.

Hey, I actually live in the town of the largest rocking chair! Cuba, MO pop. 3550. Check out the murals along 66 in town. Many come just to see them. Hope you have a great trip.

Where exactly is the chair?!? When my wife (then my gf) and I drove out west we saw the signs for it along the interstate and exited where we were supposed to but then there was nothing indicating where to go!

And a few other times we'd exit the interstate and follow signs to drive a bit on Route 66 and we couldn't find it. One time we followed signs and ended up on an on-ramp back onto the interstate a couple miles further down the road! ugh. lol

It's actually outside of Cuba (probably about a mile or two). I think the signs tell u to get off at the exit after Cuba. Then you would have to drive east on 66. But you can also get off at the Cuba exit and follow 66 west out of town.

They had lessons at least on weekends years ago, not sure if that's still the case or not. I'm only about 45 minutes from Cuba & had never heard of the rocking chair thing :rolleyes1

Not the world's largest, but Bristow, Oklahoma has more miles of brick streets than any other city in America... And it is on Rte 66!

Cool. We are looking forward to getting some photos of our little 5 year old in front of all of the world's LARGEST things... and then making them into a big poster when we get home. :)

This is probably a little bit too south. This is on I-44 in Oklahoma between Joplin and Oklahoma City (probably close to Rt 66)...the World's Largest McDonalds.

It's at one of the service plaza on I-44. I don't think it's the world's largest anymore..in fact, I think the McDonald's in Orlando might be bigger. However, it's something to think about, if you want to extend your trip a little south.

Isn't that the one that goes over the highway? I used to drive by it all the time driving from Ft Hood back home to Missouri.

Yes, they do have ski school, rentals, etc.... The schedule varies depending on school breaks and such. I know they have weekend lessons, not sure about weekday...I would check out the website. No lessons needed for the sledding park, though. Have heard great feedback about it.

Yikes! Looks like the hotel that we were going to stay at in Branson was damaged by the tornadoes the other day. I guess I better give them a week or so to clean up and then give a call to see if it's still worth stopping there. We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow...

I hate when that happens! We booked a hotel on Sanibel Island back in 2004, and a week later it was obliterated in a hurricane :(

We visit Branson 2-3 times per year and it was so sad to see the damage on the news yesterday. I would be surprised if the hotels that were hit will be back to normal in 2 weeks, but there are several places to stay in Branson that weren't hit. We love Branson, but have never visited it for the "World's Largest" anything. What a great idea!

Trying to burn hotel points from work and make it a "free" vacation, so we had booked the Hilton on Branson Landing. There are many (many, many, many...) hotels in Branson, but few that I could cash in points for. ;)
