Warning; you are about to read a long report that will be broke up into 2-3 parts.
Trip Schedule: Check-in Sunday, Nov. 30th - Check-out Sunday, Dec. 7th
Resort: Port Orleans Riverside, our 4th stay.
Cast of Characters - All Disney lovers, we try to go 2-3 times a year, one whole week and 2 long weekends.
DW - 6 weeks pregnant(at the time of the trip) with hunger and tired symptoms. She is the organizer of DD, cameras, stroller and backpack for our trips to the parks and my best friend.
DD(4) - The precious gem of the family, very much a girl and loves all the princesses and fairies.
Myself Bell hop, chauffer, camera man and the person that tries to keep us on schedule when we actually have a schedule.
PART 1 - ROUGH START
The plan, leave (the west end of the Florida panhandle) between 7 8am on Sunday Nov. 30th and arrive at POR around 3pm. Well I got called into work because they had a computer crash and ended up working til 5:30pm. I rushed home loaded the van and headed out at 6:30 just a mere 11 hours later then planned
Normally we like to stop in Tallahassee for a sit down meal and refueling, this time refueling and drive-thru. Hit traffic (people coming home from their thanksgiving weekend trip) on 75 south that delayed us about 45 minutes. We normally get excited when we first enter WDW property by driving through their lighted Welcome to Walt Disney World sign but at 3AM I was ecstatic, well as ecstatic as I could be after such a long day
I walk into the registration area and there is not a soul around, I walk up to the desk and look around and notice the good old counter bell, I pressed it 2-3 times and out of the back room comes the best CM ever, only because she will direct me to the bed that I need to pass out in
I requested Mansions(Parterre Place) and water view, got AB building 36, ground floor, corner room by a pool. I knew she could not look for a mansion room since their computer systems are down for backups and I was happy to get a ground floor. I did ask the CM if we could get a couple of bed rails for our DD(4), she said no problem and off I went. Being that late and tired, I was going to put off unpacking the van until daylight, but our room was very close to the parking lot so I went ahead and unloaded. While unloading a CM came by and dropped off our bed rails. The room was very clean and there was an issue with one of the beds, but nothing that could not wait until tomorrow, head hit the pillow at 4am.
Monday: Needless to say, since my DD slept in the van, she woke up at 7:15am and wanted to get the day started. The first thing we realize is that we left our toiletries bag hanging in the bathroom back home, which contained washing products, shaving stuff and most importantly my DW contacts and both of our cell phones
We bring snacks, water, juice and breakfast cereals with us, so we ate breakfast in the room and while the DW & DD were getting ready I went over to the main building to get some of the toiletrie stuff we need and to talk to a CM about the bed and also complain about what they consider a water view room. The only way you could see the pool from our room was to go outside and look over the hedges. The CM and manager were great, they said they will have someone look at the bed and they credited my CC the water view rate
We spent a few hours at MK and then headed over to EPCOT, because we had a 5:30 ADR for dinner at San Angel Inn Mexico and VIP seating for the 8:15 Candlelight Processional. Here is the bad part of having ADRs with my pregnant DW, we had lunch but by 4:30 she was starving and had to eat, I mentioned that we had reservations in an hour and could she hold off. WELL off to The Land we go so she could get something to eat. We took our time getting over to Mexico and arrived a little late for our ADR. DW and I had Puntas de Filete en Salsa Guajillo - Beef tenderloin tips sautéed with fresh onions and chile Guajillo sauce, served over corn tortillas, black beans, and fresh cheese. DW was hoping for a more traditional Mexican meal i.e. enchiladas, burritos
and they have a more fancy menu selection, anyways the food was very good and of course I had to finish the DWs meal since she wasnt all that hungry
We arrived for the 8:15 show about 25 minutes early and the VIP line was huge, I waited in line while my DW and DD went looking around. The narrator that night was Neil Patrick Harris aka Doogie Howser or Barnie from How I met your mother. It was an excellent story telling concert, we all enjoyed it very much and would highly recommend seeing it. We visited a couple of more countries and started heading towards the front while watching the fireworks. The bus line was very long (in the past it would have been a good 45 minutes) but we had 3 buses within 20 minutes. During our whole stay the buses to and from the parks were very good. There was only one time that there was an issue with the buses and a person in a WDW van came to the bus stop and told us that the bus that was suppose to go to MK forgot to change the sign from EPCOT and that some people got on before the driver noticed it. He apologized and had a bus there within a few minutes. When we got back to our room there was a new box spring on the bed, excellent service.
Tuesday We are not rope drop or commando people so we do not set an alarm, DD let us sleep in until 8:00, which was good because today was the night we go to MVMCP. We check the weather station and find out that it is going to be the coldest night of the week, in the low 40s by night fall. We get to AK at about 10:30 and we enjoy ourselves until 5:30, we go back to our room, change into warmer clothing and of course my mickey ears santa hat
and head out to MK. We eat at DDs favorite place Cosmic Rays and then go see the show in front of the castle; the castle was magnificent with its Christmas lights. We enjoyed the parade, fireworks, rides and the free hot cocoa and cookies. We stay until the park closed at midnight and head back to POR, a great day!
