Mom's DH just told me that he spoke to the nurse alone and that the nurse is saying hospice. I am soooo not ready for this. :(

My grandma was just sent home recently with Hospice. We feel the same way. Just not ready.

I'm sorry. I know this can't be easy for any of you.

You're all in my prayers.

Hugs to you. Be strong for your mom. I send you prayers.

 I am sorry. I have never had to deal with anything like this, but I imagine it is a very difficult time.

After about 3 months in various hospitals this spring, my mother went to hospice in early June. She was there 9 days (much longer than the staff expected her to last). But it was the best place for her. She was cared for so wonderfully. The staff were truly angels. They did everything they could to make her comfortable in those 9 days. They bathed her sometimes twice a day. They'd give her all the sedatives she could stand. They adjusted her pillows at least hourly. They brought in a fan and made ice packs to cool her off when she ran a fever. She was non-responsive for all the 9 days and for many of the days before in the hospital.

Hospice was wonderful. And they were exceptionally kind to my family. They helped us prepare for her death and spent hours just talking to my brother, my sister and I.

I wasn't ready to lose my mother, either, but her death was very peaceful and she was surrounded by so many loving people.

:hug:s to you. I'm glad that you are getting to spend this time with her right now. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

I've been were you are :( . I know it's hard and we're never ready to say goodbye to our moms.

Know that these are wonderful places, or if she is home-cared, they send the most wonderful people. Some of the most giving I've ever met.

They can make this whole thing very touching.

You take care.

It's never a word you want to hear or are ready to hear, believe me, I know.

I will pray for you and your family. Take advantage of the time and

God bless,

Robinrs

I'm so sorry.

Hospice was wonderful with my mom. They are true angels.

You and your family are in my prayers.

 I am so sorry! Praying for you and your family! Sending some pixie dust your way, too!

Thanks, everyone. Some of you know that I was supposed to be in FL for the weekend with mom, but had to drive back with them when we evacuated due to Ivan. So, I just substituted a return flight of 9/19 so as of now, I am planning to drive back to FL with them and fly back to Cincinnati next week. I figure it will be time well spent.

Thank you again. The care and concern of folks on the dis is quite touching and a bit overwhelming. Prayers to you all as well.
