Rough day at work.. (sad)

I go to work (a middle school) and I see that the library is closed due to a meeting.

Usually the library is NOT closed, so I asked another aide what happened.

A student at another middle schoo within our districtl committed suicide. He was an 8th grader.

My students, knew this students, and his sister. There were many tears, and crying within the hallways. They had a grief counselor in the school today as well as other things for the students. Many staff knew this child as well.

I've been holding it in all day. I dont know how to feel. I saw some of my former students crying.. and asking is it me, is it gong to be me next?

This is the 8th suicide in 8 years in this district. Something needs to stop NOW.

My daughter (7th) grade came home today and told me about this -- they discussed it in their health class and had to write a few paragraphs on what they would do to help someone who felt that their situation was hopeless.
So sad.

Kids that age are so scary...you want to be an unflappable parent and not panic at every little mood swing...but there are some who actually go to extremes.

What a sad day, Cindy. Suicide at any age is just so sad but in middle school? How frightening and heart breaking
